It does support dual monitors each one is a screen in and of itself. All you have to do is move it to the lower screen and open new work task on the main screen

How is this second screen with heavy word/spreadsheet editing and comparison? I travel a lot and having a second external monitor isn't possible

I don't think it would be that helpful with spreadsheet comparison. I use it mostly to keep Spotify up at all times or as the number pad. When I'm just working purely on battery power I usually have it turned off. The second screen is cool and I still really like the laptop, but it's not quite as useful as I was hoping it would be.
