Precision Paper Cutter
I looked at several paper trimmers, including several models of the Kutrimmer brand. As a book artist, I need to be able to make precise, accurate cuts both in paper and heavier weight cardboard, mat board, and book board. This model 1038 will cut several sheets of paper at a time, (the literature says 50 sheets, but I did not test that), plus it has a moveable ruler so that you are sure of the placement of your paper or mat board, and can accurately duplicate cuts. It also has a press that you can lower down over your material so that it will not move around as you make your cut. If you use a lot of book board, however, it will tend to dull the blade.Size was definitely a consideration as I do not have a lot of space for equipment. This model fits in a 16 inch wide space, and, although it is not light, I can pick it up and move it easily, if necessary. This paper trimmer has been an immense help to me, and I would highly recommend it.

THE BOTTOM LINE --- DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
DO NOT BUY THE KUTRIMMER TABLETOP MODEL #1038----IT DOES NOT DO WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO!I bought this model because I am a book artist/book maker who requires clean and consistently equal cuts of paper, card stock, and book board. The blade and the mechanism on this model do not provide square cuts. The page lengths and widths are never equal and the pages never come out square. The left-hand clamp does not work---it wobbles and does not stay square. The blade NEVER cuts a consistently straight piece of paper----one end is always broader than the other by end. For example, if I set the blade to cut 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches, I end up with the top of the paper at 1/4 inches, but as the blade cuts through the paper, the width moves from 1/4 to 1/2 inches at the end of the cut----quite a noticeable difference when you are trying to align papers and spines. This was a very expensive model and it does not work. It did not come with instructions, so there is no way to find out what may be wrong with it. I have contacted the distributor in the US (MBM Corporation) and they just had a lot of excuses and no workable solution.THE BOTTOM LINE --- DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, AND DO NOT WASTE EXPENSIVE PAPER PRODUCTS TO FIND OUT THAT YOU HAVE A TOOL THAT DOES NOT DO WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO. THIS IS NOT A CALIBRATED TOOL!
