theory11 Yellow Submarine Special Edition Playing Cards

Wow what fine cards these are! This must be the hight of the craftsmen's art in card making. I love handling them and like a new book, they have a smell and visual texture (even the box is meticulously designed). These cards are a sensational experience.

The Theory 11 "Yellow Submarine" tribute deck is a wonderful collectible as well as a very playable set of cards. All the Aces, Jokers, and Faces feature characters from the animated movie with a psychedelic collage as the back design. (The number cards do not have artwork related to the movie.) There's a very limited palette used here, which reminds me of the old Sunday Funnies that used to come with newspapers. I think that's appropriate, btw. All of the artwork seems to have been created specifically for this deck and don't rely on the cliched poses from the album cover. I think the artwork here looks absolutely great!For the curious, this is a totally different "Yellow Submarine" deck than the older deck published by Aquarius. That deck featured stills from the movie on every single card. If you're a collector you'll likely want both. Personally, I prefer this one just because it looks and feels far more unique to me.

Purchased for our son for his birthday. He loves The Beatles and this was a great extra for his birthday. Super bright and sturdy. Definitely a fav for our many car trips.

The deck of cards had a broken seal as if it had been opened to a collector sealed and unopened means something

Love these cards, but they could have been better. Absolutely right for Paul to be King of Hearts. John should have been King of Spades. (I’m thinking almost all Beatles fans, who are also card players, will agree.) Also, I wish there was a 2nd joker. Fortunately, there is an extra card that can be used as a stand in for a joker.
