MWNYO Hood Latches Aluminum Hood Catch Replacement for Jeep Wrangler JK/JKU 2007-2017, JL/JLU 2018+ & Jeep Gladiator 2020+ with Painted, Patented Design (Black,1 Pair)

These are just what I was after. I used these to replace some older locking hood latches I previously installed. I got tired of having to use a key to unlock the latches, but still wanted a latch that would adjust to eliminate hood flutter. These are high quality, look great and perform well. The install was more time consuming than I anticipated, but that is because of the small area to work with. No fault of the product itself. Adjustment for each side was easy and installation was self explanatory. 5 out of 5 I would recommend!

So first off I wanna say these things are beefy and look great!! Definitely like the look over stock and plus it keeps the hood from doing that vibration crap when on the interstate. Ok now onto the good stuff. 1- when you are removing the old latches, the 4 nuts that hold the hook clips to the hood in place.. save those. 2- those nuts I told you to hold onto ( that's what she said) you are going to use those for the actual latch mechanism that takes the one nut. The nut they supply is ok but the factory one is the same thread pattern and has the washer built in so way faster and more secure install. Also if you don't have one buy a swivel head 1/4 ratchet. I supplied a pic of the one i used. Keeps you from getting your fingers from getting chewed up as much. 3- when installing the new hooks on the hood pay attention to the slope of the hook itself. They slant just a little. You are going to want the higher end of the slant to point towards the windshield. This will allow the hood to properly close and keep your body lines straight. Also when you are installing those bolts into the hook locks use loctite to keep them from backing out. Don't want your hood flying up because the bolts backed out. 4- last but not least DO NOT TIGHTEN EVERYTHING DOWN AT ONCE!! Snug your bolts up and then lower your hood to adjust. This latch assembly has 3 main points of adjustment. You have the base, the snap, and the pin. If you don't get the first two correct you will find yourself forcing the hood pin in and that's not good because it can and will bend your hood and fender if you try to Mongo the pin in place. Other than that install on this was a breeze and took about 45 minutes ( trial and error which is why I wrote this review)

These are awesome hood latches. It takes a little adjustment when installing them but once they’re set they work great. The aluminum with powder coat has held up really well and they look awesome! Highly recommended!

This hood latch is very well made but is a tricky installation on a Jeep JK. The instructions that come with the kit are pretty basic and don’t describe what’s involved in working in the limited space of the Jeep. There is very little room to get to the nut that holds the base of the existing latch without taking parts off the Jeep. I used a 1/4” socket set with a swivel attachment. Anything larger would not fit in the narrow gap. I believe it’s 13mm for the existing nut and it’s 10mm for the one with the new latch. You just need to loosen the existing nut a little to be able to remove by hand. There’s also a risk of dropping the new parts into the body of the Jeep. To eliminate that, I put duct tape in the 10mm socket to hold in the new nut and a little piece to hold the washer. I also had to remove the latch mechanism from its base to make it easier to insert the new bolt into the hole and catch the nut. This worked well and took about 10 minutes a side including reconnecting the latch. The screws that hold the catch part of the system that attaches to the hood are long enough to catch the threads but I added a dab of blue thread lock to make sure the screws don’t rattle loose. Adjusting the latch to grab the hood tightly is easy enough. Once adjusted properly it’s very easy to latch and unlatch. I also like the added feature of the locking pin. In high winds the hood would often flex with the old rubber latch. These new latches hold tightly and there is no flex. These latches look solid and are solid. I would recommend these latches.

I love the way these look on my 2018 JK. Only problem I have with them is they don’t seem to line up 100% and that could my fault but other than I love them. Stops the highway hood flutter. Easy to install and good quality latches. I would definitely buy them again.

I really liked the styling on this set of hood latches compared to oem and other aftermarket options. The materials are what you'd expect, with aluminum bodies and stainless hardware. Space on the JK to get to the lower hardware is limited, especially without taking everything apart. I found that using the factory flange nuts from the upper part of the oem latches made installing the lower portion of this latch much easier. Didn't have to manage the separate washer and lock nut. Very happy with the form and function of these.

Excellent produit et le look est super sir mon Jeep. Assez simple an installer avec un peu de patience, beaucoup plus stable que le système d’origine. Toutes les composantes sont en aluminium ou en acier inoxydable donc rien ne va rouiller
