High-Performance Fuel Injection Systems

AWESOME!!!! A Must Buy
I have skimmed through many EMS tuning books and never bought any of them because they were too complex, or spoke too much about irrelevent builds, EMS history, etc. This book gives a nice intro and then gets to the meat! This book is by far the most methodical, guiding you step by step through the tuning process, while providing knowledge and tips along the way. After reading this book, I can LITERALLY look at my guage cluster and picture WHERE on a VE/FUEL map my engine curreently resides in just based on my rpms, mph, and selected gear. Its an amazing book, that really makes tuning understandable and practical to the everyday automotive enthusiast. If your new to EMS tuning, get both this book, and his previous one, which spends more time explaining the 101's of engines, sensors, etc.Get This Book!!! no other even comes close!!!!

Great book
What can I say, Greg Banish is an OEM calibrator, so he knows his stuff better than tuners that don't know how OEMs design their PCMs, not have access to millions of dollars of equipment. Very good explanations, great definitions and explanations on why this or that is a good or bad idea.

Good reading easy to understand
Book made great sense in learning what my tune shop is actually doing with my car

Good Learning guide... Maybe A little hard for absolute beginners
This book, and it's sister book "Engine Management: Advanced Tuning" are great textbooks to have if you are interested in learning about electronic fuel injection, especially in regards to performance tuning. However, being for all intents and purposes, I am an absolute beginner. I have some minor understanding of how an engine works, and I have read many performance magazines for domestic, and import cars. I also have some minor hands on experience, and I have found this book to both be interesting, and somewhat challenging to read. I have to learn as I read, but not so much that I struggle to understand the content. I purchased both books by Greg Banish with the desire to learn the foundation of EFI tuning with to goal of determining if I like, or understand it enough to invest in some tuning software such as HP Tuners or EFI Live, and a training course like [...], which I think I will still need.In summary, I think my money was well spent on this and it's sister book, with both of them being at a medium experience level, but I think I will still need further training before I can tune a car with HP Tuners on my own.

Buy this book!
Greg is an OEM calibrator who actually went to college for this stuff. He's worked at Ford and GM, in the tuning department. He's had his own tuning shop. He teaches tuning. He teaches SCT's Advanced Tuning class. This is his second book. I've read them both, and attended his SCT class. I can guarantee that they don't come any sharper than him, when it comes to tuning. As an added bonus, he seems to know how to write in way that's easy to understand, no matter what your experience level. I've read lots of other tuning books, been to EFI University and read Ben Straders book as well, and in my opinion none of them are near as good as this book. So go buy it.This book covers speed density computers more specifically, such as FAST, Big Stuff, Accel, etc. But the details in it still apply to all tuning. His other book, Engine Management: Advanced Tuning covers the Mass Air cars (most OEM EFI systems) a little more closely. Either way, if you're trying to learn to tune, or want to know more about how EFI works, buy both books. Unfortunately, I can't say very good things about any of the other tuning books I've read. Most are poorly written, way to short and simple, or just don't help much.

Like a teacher!
The guy who wrote this book has a mindset focused in join the most important theory to the real world pratices. The subjects are organized in a logical and evolutionary sequence. The colored ilustrations allow the learner get a clarified understanding. The words used and the way he expresses means that he is not an amateur. I'm sure he is a very experienced professional. While reading the explanations it's possible to imagine like you were inside a dyno environment seeing all the calibration process. From inexperienced to expert, a lot of tips can improve their knowlege. Some explanations require the reader to go deep in engine theory, specially about combustion process.About me: I've been working as engineer for NAVISTAR diesel engine group in Brazil. On weekends I work as a engine builder specially for dragracing applications. Here in Brazil our prefered engine for racing is the VW ABA 4cyl 2.0 Liters and I've got 1180 Hp on this little sport compact machine with just 3.6 bar intake pressure.

Excellent, but not for eveyone.
Very in depth, very technical. Not for everyone. If you are looking to understand all of the components of a fuel injection system and have the math and technical skills to understand this, it is an excellent reference book. This helped me figure out an idle problem that was related to fuel injector rated delivery vs. rail pressure that I would not have thought about. Excellent.

Packed full of information
I keep reading this book, because it's packed full of information. The layout is well done, and it's not overly dry or verbose. Don't be disappointed that the book isn't all that thick, because it's got a lot more information than much thicker books I've purchased. I combined this book with some videos at HP Academy (online), and they compliment each other very well.I wish Greg had some additional books that went even further, although I'm not sure how much more there is to say without starting into multiple tuning examples.

Lesenswert!
