If you are using this as part of a gate or door opening system there should be auxiliary power source terminals on the control board usually 24 volts . If that isn’t available you can use a 24 volt transformer to power it . The unit works on ac or dc voltage .

It’s only for the time interrupted and continues if the beam is interrupted. Since mine is controlling a gate, the gate circuit board tells the control what to do next either reverse to fully open for a few seconds or keep closing.
