Updated: A Really Nice Litterbox
This is a really nice litterbox with some great features...First off, I'm dealing with a large 15-1/2lb boy. He's not fat; he's just a large cat. A jumbo size litter box would have been perfect for him, but alas, won't fit in my teeny tiny bathroom. Enter the Catit hooded litter box. When shopping for a new litter box, I will never buy a box without a hood as it keeps the litter contained and odors at a minimum. The hood on this box is taller than Puss Toes' old box which is a real plus for my big boi. A plus for me is that about half the top of the hood flips open to help facilitate cleaning the box. I love this feature since it means I don't have to remove the hood to clean the pan and if I ever do need to remove the hood, this hood has clips that slide rather than snap closed. I really appreciate this feature since it means no more broken nails trying to pry clips up. A HUGE plus is that I can buy replacement flap doors! Since this is what always fails on these hood systems, I give the company 5 Stars for this alone!A really great feature I love, is that the back of the pan is higher than the front. This is a great for males who want to stand up to pee, sending urine out the pan and hood seam and down onto the floor... NOT pleasant. To help prevent this, the pan and hood also have a different kind of interlocking system to prevent any urine from leaking out. Hopefully the elevated back wall will prevent him from testing that out!The cons...The plastic materials used are not as thick or strong feeling as Puss Toes' previous litter box. The hood in particular feels almost brittle (the pan, while thinner than his prev box, still feels thicker than the hood). Time will tell how well it will hold up. Since nobody is going to be sitting on it, hopefully it'll last a long time.UPDATE: Comments regarding the flap being too long requiring kitty to be aggressive in pushing it open, are true. My work-around suggestion is to put a shortened chopstick, pencil or plastic straw in the hood's track flap top. It raises it up just enough to elevate the bottom of the flap where it hangs up.If not for the brittle feeling of the hood, I would have rated the Catit litter box 5 stars; esp since I can order replacement flaps (yea!)! Sadly, I give this litterbox 4-1/2 Stars due to the lack of beefiness in materials; the hood in particular. Still, I do highly recommend the Catit hooded litter box and would buy it again.UPDATE: Since I updated the flap hack, I might as well mention that my concerns about the brittle feeling materials don't seem to be much of a concern after all; so I'm upping my original score from 4-1/2 to 5 stars.

Cleaner option for litter
I love this box. My cats took to it right away. No flung litter outside the pan, the scent stays in more, and the kitties get a little privacy.

Best Litter Box I Have Used
I have used the Littermaid auto clean box for 2 years and I have replaced this 3 times. I have also used others because I need multiple litter boxes with my cats. I have 4 cats that stay indoors and my litter box could not keep up. I decided to look for a covered box and decided to purchase this one, based upon reviews. I am happy that I did! It is now my only litter box. Yes, with 4 cats, it is my only litter box because they only want to use this one. It is easy to clean and creates less mess and smell. So I am happy to have just one now!My previous litter box used the corn cob style litter and I continued to use this litter until I ran out. There was less mess! Like it actually stayed inside the litter box. My female cat is a kicker that stays in the litter box for awhile kicking stuff around. My previous litter box allowed it to come out and track everywhere. It was not the sides that it would go over, but when they actually walked out. I also would mix the crystals with this, again litter would be everywhere. Not with this new litter box! I had the occasional mess around the front of the box that stayed on the rug. I now use Tidy Cat and it does even better. I have watched my cats get out and have figured out what is making less mess. The front door has a small flap type thing that slightly bends. It sticks into the litter box, right where the door would meet. With my cats coming out of the litter box, they put their front paws down on it, and it bends inside just enough to allow the litter to fall back into the box. Sometimes it is left on the edge, but most times will fall back. This is just what I have noticed.I did take off the front door because my cats did not want to enter. I do not find this to be a big deal because the odors are not terrible when you clean it each day. I also use the stick on odor controllers that were intended for my Littermaid box. I do buy thee still and just add them to top on the inside. With 4 cats using this box, the size is awesome. Even my Maine Coone cat can get inside and move around without any troubles. When I am ready to clean it, I simply slide four lock bars and the top comes off. I have not yet replaced the filter. I really don't think I plan to often because I do use the stick on carbon filters.Take time to consider this litter box. It is great for multiple cats! The litter pan is large, so expect to use most of your 30 pound litter bag to fill it up.

Best litter box ever, no joke!
Oh my goodness, this box is a life saver. I have two cats; 1 who pees standing and 1 who has kidney issues and therefor pees a lot. Due to this, we have three litter boxes and they were all bricks of urine at the end of the day (yes I clean them every night and it’s a lot of pee). Well, I recently moved and bought some newer litter boxes for my space. Problem is that it kept leaking all over our new floors even though it was enclosed.Got so irritated but stumbled upon this box and it’s cool anti leak feature. Decided to buy one and test it out. It is PERFECT! Not only does the anti leak feature truly stop any pee from getting out, it is also absolutely MASSIVE. We filled it with an entire 40-50lb bag of litter and it could have probably fit more.I still clean the boxes daily, but it’s not nearly as bad as it was before. I actually went ahead and bought a second one for our second floor to replace our other two litter boxes (yes, it’s that big).I did remove the plastic piece from the front because my boys don’t like being enclosed in spaces and it freaked them out. It was simple to remove and could easily been put back on too.So, if you have multiple cats, or cats with peeing issues, this is the box for you! Honestly, you could probably have one of these boxes for two or three (normal) cats and be fine as long as they don’t mind sharing. Oh, and I notice a lot less litter on the floor with this box as it has a lip in the front.
