Excellent aid in treating demodectic mange.
I've been using this shampoo weekly in conjunction with daily applications of Goodwinol (a cream you put directly on the affected areas) to treat my puppy's localized Demodectic (Red) mange. It should be noted that her mange was still a very mild outbreak when I caught it, but since using the shampoo and cream, her mange has cleared up and her hair is starting to grow back on the affected spots. It took me quite a bit of shampoo to get it lather up on her face because her hair is so short. It says to keep it lathered for 5-10 minutes and then rinse. Be careful not to get it in their eyes, but it's important to get every area because the point of the peroxide is to "flush" the hair folicle, so that the demodex mites get washed out of the hair folicle, where they typically hide. (Regular shampoo does not flush the folicle.) I didn't allow my dog to lick her fur while I was letting it sit, and I continued to keep it lathered up while I was timing it. This shampoo will not kill mange mites, but it will wash the mites off, lowering the mite population and allowing whatever treatment you choose to work better and faster. Plus, the shampoo can be used all over so it prevents new spots from forming. It also doesn't stink like some medicated shampoos. It has a pleasant smell and made my hands feel very soft, presumably from the Vitamin E in it. Keep in mind that shampooing your dog strips his/her coat of the natural oils in it that keep them warm, dry, etc. I use a conditioning spray with aloe in it all over her afterwards to prevent dry skin. Dry skin is much better than dealing with mange, though! This shampoo is much safer than the "dips" used to kill mange mites in the past. I believe it's perfectly safe when used as directed. I even asked my vet about it, and he said if I could find peroxide shampoo it would definitely help and make my dog's skin and fur a very unpleasant environment for the mites. The only place I could find was online. It seems pet stores don't carry it anymore, but some vets still carry it occasionally. It's a little pricey when you factor in shipping costs, but it's definitely worth it because it lasts a while and works very well.

Effective Cleaning, Great Smelling
I've used this 3 times on my standard poodle who was stricken with a bad case of sarcoptic mange (it got worse after a vet's misdiagnosis as a food allergy). I wash him with his regular shampoo first to remove the majority of the grease and dirt, rinse, then shampoo him with this to dig down and strip out all the crud. It makes his fur literally squeaky clean. The hot spots that he had and scabs get redder after application and the scabs may begin to bleed again, so it is irritating in the short term. That said, the shampoo really flushes out the crud. After a few hours, the skin lightens up and returns to better than normal. The dog experiences relief after the bath. It helped to clear out the clogged and flaky skin and everything else. Oh, and I should mention that it smells really, really good. It's this great coconut scent that you would not hesitate to put on human shampoo. It probably would be good for someone that had a skin issue to use it, actually. It is pricey, and it's not something I would be using on the dog all the time, but if he has a condition like mange or something with similar symptoms, I think this is worth trying.

Better feeling & smelling fur
Results: Reduced redness in skin, Softer/moisturized skin, Better feeling & smelling fur, and Reduced itching. My Story: I'm always worried that a lot of reviews are fake because some company's will hire people write positive reviews on their product. Well here's the truth: I recently rescued a pitbull off the street and soon found out he has crazy allergies to almost everything. I also believe he has mites(Constant scratching, chewing, and red/dry skin) so i bought this product along with "Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiparasitic & Antiseborrheic Shampoo" after having not so good results with Tea Tree Oil mixed with water(It seemed to burn his skin and he was really red and swollen). The Antiparasitic hasn't shown up yet so i decided to test out the DermaPet and see if he reacted badly to it. He had some pinkish skin before the bathing, but it seemed like it was starting to go down within 30 minutes after his spray down with the DermaPet. The day after his shower (Today) it would seem almost all of the red skin has cleared up. He is still scratching (Because this is not supposed to kill the mites, just wash some of them out) but he seems a lot better, his fur feels better, smells WAY cleaner, softer skin and reduced redness. I can't wait to get the second shampoo to kill the nasty mites! If anyone has questions, or even advice for me or From me, feel free to leave a comment and i'll try to respond asap.

Helped Some But Found a Better Cure
It helped my lab/pug's skin but wasn't the cure I hope for. I will keep it and continue to use it as needed for shampoos. It smells great and he probably will need it. But the bumps that turn to scabs my vet could not find a solution for (we've done antibiotics course which worked but returned after completion, bloodwork that showed no cause) responded to a rinse in apple cider vinegar! I now apply it with a spray bottle every couple of days. He smells like a salad while damp but it goes away when dry. If you try it, dilute it 1/2 water to 1/2 ACV. His condition began during hot humid weather. I'm wondering if it's related to yeast although she didn't think it looked like it. I hope this helps some of the other dogs out there with their skin problems.
