This is a fantastic contact cement
This glue is a fantastic contact cement. Worked like a charm. I had wasted about $16 on silicone based glues that didn’t bond well when the surfaces made contact, to put replacement soles on a pair of shoes. I had to peel off all that silicone (which wasn’t that hard to do). So, I tried this. It got extremely tacky after on sitting for 15 minutes and when I pressed the soles (cement applied) to the bottom of the shoes (cement applied) they bonded well on contact. Thing is, you’ve got to be very precise in aligning the objects well when you press them together! The bond is instant, although proper curing takes time. There were just a couple small areas where the soles didn’t bond on the edges (where the shoe bottom tapers a bit), so I squeezed a little more of this cement in there, waited, then re-bonded them in those spots. That worked fine. Took me about 2 hours total and ready to wear after a day. I’ve now been wearing them for a few days and these soles are on there very solid! Like new. I’m very satisfied and will use this product again on any future shoe sole repairs. Much cheaper than a shoe repair shop. Update: After a couple attempts at gluing down difficult edge areas that kept popping loose, I figured out that I was mistaken: this cement is properly cured after SEVERAL DAYS, not several hours. Some areas on the edges did pop loose after wearing. So I had to add more cement to those areas, clamp them (difficult) and leave them that way for several days. I could still smell out gassing solvent. Then, I’m leaving them for another couple weeks for more curing. I’ll report back after a month of wearing these newly glued soles.

This stuff works real well.
This stuff works real well. I've used it for 50 years. The only disappointing thing about Weldwood Contact Cement is that I don't use it too often and it tends to thicken up rendering it difficult to apply. But I will keep buying it. It's not exactly instant bond even following proper directions. Directions do work well. Makes the product tough as nails.

Buy the smallest amount you need...
Like many other Contact Cement products, they work very well. Usually, you apply to both surfaces, and shortly after, join them. Voila! Very good adhesion. My only complaint is that whatever's left will soon dry out, and be useless. Frustrating! It happens no matter how tightly you close the cap. Any solutions?
