Q: Are these different then thr 1461 smooth leather? Do they have extra cushion than the originals?

It does have the extra insole cushion on the heel end. Very comfortable to wear.

Q: Can you use custom insoles in these?

I put prescription insoles for plantar fasciitis in mine!
