Q: Can this fan be connected to a wallswitch?

Yes, of course it could be. In that case, both the wall switch and the onboard rotary switch would have to be turned on for the fan to run. You could leave the onboard switch in the ON position, then use the wall switch to control the fan. A simpler solution would be to buy the Broan Model 509 fan, which is the same unit m i n u s the built-in switch, intended to be used with a wall switch. It also costs around $10 less. Q: does this fan have a continuous duty motor

I can only comment on the Broan 509 and the specs on their site spec sheet say "Continuous Operation: No". https://www.broan.com/Bath-Vent-Fan/Utility-Fans/Through-Wall-Fans/509 Also, the speed controller cannot be used with Impedance protected fans, and yet Broan suggest it for the install.
