The Little Soul and the Sun: A Children's Parable Hardcover – March 1, 1998

When I first read the book Conversations With God a few years ago, I was deeply touched. Much of the insights presented in this unusual conversation were a wonderfully fresh way of seeing All is One and that All is Love. A year or so later, I was browsing the children's section of the bookstore and came upon The Little Soul and the Sun: A Children's Parable Adapted From Conversations With God. I read it right there and it brought tears to my eyes.Here it is some years later, and I've just bought this delightful book for my son as a Christmas present. This beautiful story is illustrated in lavish pastels by Frank Riccio, and features a parable about Little Soul--one who wants to experience itself as Who I Am. You see, Little Soul knows that it is Light--but feels that knowing isn't enough. So Little Soul asks God if it can actually feel what is means to be the Light. So God asks Little Soul how it can experience the Light when it is already as a candle in the Sun, along with the other billions of souls who make up the brilliance of the Sun? Little Soul entreats God to think of something--some way in which it can experience what it feels like to be Light.God answers Little Soul "Since you cannot see yourself as the Light when you are in the Light, we'll surround you with darkness." Little Soul asks "What's darkness?" and God replies "It is that which you are not." Little Soul asks God if it will be afraid, but God says "only if you choose to be...there is nothing, really, to be afraid of, unless you decide that there is."One of the central themes of Conversations With God is that in order for God to experience Itself, It had to be contrasted with something else--something "other". You cannot experience dark without light, up without down, now without then, fast without slow. The purpose of duality is to experience parts of the God-self in all Its glory. In a sense, we are all a part of God, and God exploded into a million Souls to experience Itself.However, when We made the journey Earthward, We forgot where We came from--and Who we were. Little Soul and God continue the conversation, and talk about how everyone is special in their own way--each manifesting a different part of "special". Some parts of special include kindness, creativity, and patience. Little Soul decides that the part of "special" it wants to experience is the part of special known as forgiveness. A multitude of Souls gather around God and Little Soul to hear this extraordinary conversation, and God sweeps an arm towards them: "There is nothing to forgive" God says. Little Soul could hardly believe what God said. "Everything I have made is perfect. There is not a single soul in all of creation less perfect than you. Look around you."Little Soul grumbles that this wasn't fun at all! How would it experience itself as One Who Forgives if there was noone to forgive? Just then, Friendly Soul offers to help him, volunteering to come into Little Soul's next lifetime so it can do something for Little Soul to forgive. Little Soul was incredulous, and aks why Friendly Soul, who was such a magnificent Being of perfect Light, would want to become dense and dark--slowing it's vibration in order to do this bad thing for Little Soul to forgive? "Simple", The Friendly Soul replies. "I would do it because I love you." Friendly Soul goes on to explain that both it and Little Soul have been male and femaile, good and bad, victim and villian--All of It. "Thus have we come together, you and I, many times before; each bringing to the other the exact and perfect opportunity to Express and to Experience Who We Really Are."In being the "bad one" this time around, Friendly Soul will give Little Soul the opportunity to experience itself as One Who Forgives. Friendly Soul becomes serious and confirms that it will have to become dense and dark to do this act--and that both it and Little Soul may forget Who They Were. Friendly Soul asks Little Soul a favor: to remember, in the moment that it strikes and smites Little Soul--doing the worst that it can possibly imagine--that Little Soul will remember Who Friendly Soul Really Is.An agreement was made, and Little Soul goes forth into a new lifetime, excited to be the Light--and to experience that part of "special" called Forgivness. "...whenever a new soul brought joy or sadness--and especially if it brought sadness--the Little Soul thought of what God had said. 'Always remember', God had smiled, 'I have sent you nothing but angels.'"My favorite passage of the book, which is the major theme of the New Age, is "And so", God concluded, "when you are surrounded with darkness, do not shake your fist and raise your voice and curse the darkness. Rather, be a Light unto the darkness, and don't be mad about it. Then you will know Who You Really Are, and all others will know, too. Let your Light so shine that everyone will know how special you are!"

Which an amazing story for anyone struggling. My mentor had me read it once and I have gifted to any friends that have struggled with others. Every household should have it!

The book is for both young and old! It really resonated with a group of women at a Beading Hearts meeting!!

This is for those open minded, truth seeking [both qualities are gifts given to a precious few] people who read it. Isn't it amazing how most church folks assume that IF GOD AIN'T DOING IT IN OUR DENOMINATION HE AIN'T DOING IT NOWHERE!! [whether its raising up Apostles & Prophets, healing ministries, dialogue with his Creations, etc] So, according to most denominations our God, Who "Is the same yesterday, today and forever", no longer speaks in dialogue form with his Sons like He used to! [figure that one out] Dear One, there was a time in your life when God made Himself REAL to you and you, as millions of others, made the mistake of misinterpreting this REALITY as God's endorsement of status quo church thinking when, in fact, all He was affirming was that He exists and beckoning you to come to Him. This Reality was neither endorsing the "inerrancy" of the Bible nor the "vicarious atonement" doctrine. You mistakenly base ALL of your judgments on the Bible which is NOT the final authority and is only PARTIALLY inspired! [After all, when one book says, "Judas fell his sword and all his bowels gushed out" (Acts 1:18) while another book says, "Judas went and hanged himself" (Mat 27:5) we know that we have a problem] Contradictions like that would never survive in a court of law but they don't seem to bother church folks! There seems to be a rationalization for everything! I had one dear friend of mine say, in effect, "someway somehow both verses are correct and my King James Bible is still the inerrant Word of God from cover to cover"! Another friend said, "When we have the mind of God we will understand"! I also know that there is a Time factor in everyone's growth process and if it's not your time Jesus Himself could walk through the wall and tell you that this presentation is true and you would call Him a wolf in sheep's clothing and rebuke Him in Jesus' name!Most preachers go around scaring the hell out of everyone with their "gospel of peace"!! This, in essence, is how it goes: YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT JESUS BEFORE YOU DIE. YOU MIGHT DIE ANY MOMENT SO YOU CAN'T WAIT UNTIL IT'S REAL TO YOU BUT YOUR DECISION MUST BE GENUINE AND SINCERE OR IT DON'T COUNT AND YOU WILL BURN IN HELL FOREVER! INCREDIBLE! TRULY INCREDIBLE!!I'll tell you the parable of a dog named Fido. There once was a dog named Fido. His master owned him for 15 years. He was a faithful dog who loved his master and, on two occasions, even saved his master's life! For 15 years Fido brought the newspaper home, barked when people came to the door, protected the children, was careful not to mess on the floor, was a friend to everyone who came to visit, rode with his master everywhere and, in short, was the best dog anyone could ever have asked for and, for 15 years brought joy and gladness to the master's heart! HOWEVER, during that 15 years of loyalty Fido DID accidentally bite his master on two occasions and, on seven occasions, failed to fetch a stick that was thrown. Sooo, upon Fido's death, for these mistakes, God sent Fido to dog hell where he suffered eternal torture, damnation and indescribable torment!! If this concept is stupid for a dog how much more stupid for human beings!! INFINITE PUNISHMENT FOR FINITE MISTAKES IS LIKE GETTING THE ELECTRIC CHAIR FOR A PARKING VIOLATION!!In my three semesters at Alaska Bible College I was taught that approximately 10% of the world population are genuinely born again. So, then, what they're teaching is that God, Who deeply desires all men to be saved, with all of His omniscience and omnipotence, came up with a plan FORE-KNOWING that it would be less than 10% effective making God end up the quantitative loser to some devil!!! AGAIN, INCREDIBLE! THE ETERNAL HELL DOCTRINE IS THE MOST POISINOUS FALSE DOCTRINE EVER EDITED INTO THE BIBLE!!The truth is the Bible was voted to be the Word of God by 318 Catholic bishops, for political purposes, under the coercion of the emperor Constantine to unify the various religions and help save his crumbling empire. [not to compile a God inspired Book] Heavy and savage editing IN and OUT took place BEFORE canonization. The doctrine of universal salvation and reincarnation was EDITED OUT! [Constantine knew that you can't scare people into the pews and control them if they know they will have more chances]! Also, around that time, the false doctrines of hell and the devil were EDITED IN!! No devil exists except in people's minds! He has only the power they give him!! Heaven and hell are a state of consciousness that will last as long as you allow them to.Revelation passed by ONE vote AFTER HEAVY EDITING! The Apocalypse of Peter was almost voted in instead of Revelation!! [can you smell a fish yet] Neither Martin Luther nor John Calvin believed Revelation was even inspired. Luther also doubted the inspiration of Esther, Hebrews, Jude and James calling James "a worthless book of straw"! Also, there are, in all probability, hundreds of OTHER God inspired Writings out there BESIDES the inspired portions of the Bible for these reasons:A; Every Sunday just before the preacher starts his sermon he says a little prayer asking God to anoint the message and speak through him. Do you think, in the history of all of the sermons on the planet Earth, this prayer has EVER been answered?? Now, bearing in mind that there are no degrees of inspiration [it is either God speaking through a man or it isn't] then in the cases where the prayer WAS answered and God DID speak through the preacher then, for that period of time, whether 20 minutes or 2 minutes, this preacher WAS THE VOICE OF GOD and any written recordings of his teaching would be as inspired as the inspired portions of the Bible!! REASON & LOGIC! 2 + 2 = 4!B; When one is filled with, immersed in and totally [including his tongue] controlled by the Holy Spirit, [a condition the Bible exhorts us to seek after] then again, for that period of time, whether 20 minutes or 2 minutes, he IS THE VOICE OF GOD and, again, any written recordings of his teaching would be as inspired as the inspired portions of the Bible!! REASON & LOGIC! 2 + 2 = 4!C; Out of the 150+ books that the "founding fathers" used to choose which should be included in the New Testament at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD, two of the first ones rejected were written by the Apostle Paul and were rejected because they were too Jewish! [not because they weren't inspired] Fourteen more rejects were written by Apostles who had OTHER writings accepted and canonized! [Preaching of Peter, Acts of Paul, Acts of John, Acts of Peter, Infancy Gospel of James, Secret Book of James, Secret Mark, Apocalypse of Peter, Apocrypha of John, Letter of Peter to Philip, 1st Apocalypse of James, 2nd Apocalypse of James, Coptic Apocalypse of Paul, Coptic Apocalypse of Peter] Were these Apostles all having bad days while writing these rejects?? The sayings of Jesus contained in the 5 books of Papias, Bishop of Hierapolis [Expositions on the Sayings of the Lord], were also rejected! These 5 volumes HAD BEEN considered inspired by Christian churches and HAD BEEN read in those churches for generations!! My, my, if Jesus can't speak inspired words who can?? [In fact, ANY written recording of ANY of Jesus' statements during His ENTIRE ministry would be as inspired as the inspired portions of the Bible]! No, these books were rejected because they didn't say what the emperor Constantine wanted them to say! [content always trumped inspiration] The reason preachers don't preach on the subject of extra Biblical inspired Literature is because they have an unconscious VESTED INTEREST in maintaining the status quo illusion. A preacher's world would be turned upside down if he were to realize that there are hundreds of OTHER God inspired Writings out there BESIDES the Bible!! To admit this perfectly reasonable and logical truth would be to admit that they not only are not experts in the Word of God but, in fact, ARE NOT EVEN FAMILIAR WITH MOST OF IT!! [Only people with vested interests would think that the Bible is the ONLY inspired Writing in the history of the planet Earth!! Couldn't God have inspired even a portion of the Book of Mormon, the Koran, the Preaching of Peter, the 5 volume Sayings of Jesus, Acts of Paul, Acts of John, Apocalypse of Peter, (which almost beat out Revelation) or any other of the rejected books? Of course He could have and did]D; Another problem for Bible thumpers is that Arius Calpernious Pisso [Peeso] claimed to have forged three of the Gospels and the book of Revelation. This is a claim that can NOT BE DISPROVEN!! [After all, how can you KNOW DEFINITIVELY who wrote a book 300 years prior? Blind trust is not definitive]! In fact, isn't BLIND TRUST what most people base their "Biblical authority" perspective on?? [They say, "My Bible MUST be the Word of God because it has changed my life"! A changed life does not prove a lack of EDITING, FORGING or MISTAKEN VOTES let alone INERRANCY!! A changed life only proves that there is life changing truth contained therein] Do you KNOW DEFINITIVELY that Shakespeare wrote Hamlet and that it wasn't written by his cousin Jonathan?? BLIND TRUST IS NOT DEFINITIVE!!So, in conclusion, the Bible can not be the final authority because:1; Every book in the Bible may not even be authentic. Possible forgeries by Arius Calpernious-Pisso!2; Every book might not be inspired. Voted on under the coercion of the emperor Constantine. Many books still controversial! Also, some other countries have a different number of books in their New Testament than we do - some more & some less!3; The inspiration of EVERY verse is in question because of the above mentioned facts and, also, because of heavy and savage editing! Especially those that are blatantly contradictory.4; There are logically hundreds of other inspired Writings BESIDES the Bible.However ALL OF THIS DOESN'T MATTER!! It only matters to preachers and church folks who want to thump their Bible, shake it, revere it to such an "over the top" degree [never setting anything on top of it, laying hands on it, etc, etc] that it becomes WORSHIP!! In short, to WORSHIP & IDOLIZE IT AS THE INERRANT AND ONLY WORD OF GOD - THE FINAL AUTHORITY!! Worship the God within and regard all of His inspired Writings as tools to lead us into Oneness with Him!!We are in the salvation process of coming to a full realization [KNOWING] of what has ALWAYS existed and what has NEVER existed. We are BEING saved line upon line, truth upon truth, precept upon precept. The source of the truths that are leading us down this Path is not the issue! Truth is truth! All we need to do is go through life embracing every truth that Resonates with the God Vibration deep within [deep inner assurance] and not worry whether it is from God or man, edited in or edited out or even forged by Arius Calpernious Pisso.Now preachers will be quick to say that using the Resonance, the deep inner Assurance, the Witness of the Spirit as the final authority will result in a circus of different beliefs. It is true that our discerning abilities need to be honed to discern between the Witness of the Spirit and just good positive feelings but as far as a circus being the result - think again. AT THIS TIME we have over 900 different sects, schisms, divisions, denominations, offshoots and cults in the Protestant religion alone! Now EACH ONE of these 900+ sects, schisms, divisions, denominations, offshoots and cults have their Bible studies, prayer meetings, summer Bible camps, Sunday schools, Bible colleges and Seminaries offering Associate, Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degrees. EACH ONE claiming to use hermeneutically sound principals of Bible interpretation. EACH ONE claiming that God's truth is plain and clear in His Word. EACH ONE having leaders and members who love the Lord and are committed to Him and EACH ONE having a DIFFERENT INTERPRETATION of this "final authority"!! Hey, the circus has already been established by these same accusers! Boso's circus is ON THE AIR!!To say that the Bible is the final authority because it has been UNIQUELY blessed by God, in spite of the unholy and impure motives behind its compilation, in spite of the editing in and out that took place, in spite of the possible forging and in spite of the fact that there are hundreds of other God breathed Writings out there IS A STRETCH to be sure! Why would God bless the lies that were edited in? Why would God not bless His other inspired Writings equally? Again, this kind of thinking is only necessary if you want a book to worship! Truth is truth and lies are lies. The truth in the Bible is no more holy than the truth in any other book and the lies in any other book are no worse than the lies in the Bible. Let's keep things in proper perspective! Again, worship God and NOT HIS TOOLS!!Now this has not been an attempt to demean the Bible in ANY way [God has blessed the inspired portions of the Bible in spite of the total book's shortcomings] but, rather, to give it an honest and accurate representation so that you will no longer treat the Bible as an idol but, rather, a useful tool.Now I realize that most people will go through their entire life believing what they want to believe and won't even bother to address any of the evidence presented here. If they're confronted with blatant evidence to the contrary they will dive into the "someway somehow" mode ["I don't know but someway somehow this just can't be true and I don't want to hear any more about it"] So, their only hope will come just after they die. They will be waiting to fly off to some geographical location called heaven, get instantaneously perfected on the way and then get all of the fullness of God's blessings dumped in their laps! They will be waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting and finally they will realize that all of their "get rich quick", "easy way out", "someone else do it for you" theories were in error! However, then they will be in a good place because, once again, they will be TEACHABLE!! . [Again, an open mind and hunger for truth are gifts given to a precious few] However, I challenge you to muster enough courage to Google up: New Testament Compilation, Editing of the New Testament, Arius Calpernious Pisso, Council of Nicea, Formation of the New Testament, Canon of the New Testament and like subjects [But only if you dare] so that you can remove the Bible from the level of being an idol to that of being a useful tool and no more! Seek and ye shall find - don't seek and you won't find! It's just that simple. We have ALL come forth from God and must ALL return to Him! God will never end up the quantitative loser to some devil! Also, our God don't make junk, neither does our God have worms! He doesn't beget retched, despicable, sinful worms wrapped in some "original sin"! God begets Devine Beings Who, are in the process, through reincarnation, of realizing Their divinity! [Ps 82:6, Jn 10:34] "Know ye not that ye are all Gods"? This book is great for adults and children; the message is timeless and the illustrations are beautiful!

This book was definitely not what I thought it would be. It has changed my perspective on God as our creator and how he created all of us equally for a purpose. Sweet little book, however may be difficult for children to understand.
