Q: I can't figure out how to put the lead in! Please tell me!

I just fixed my partner’s DraftMatic tonight so that the pencil leads could be reloaded from the nether end. He’d been loading it from the pointy end! The eraser had become flush with the rim of the exterior steel housing, rendering the inner rim of corrugated aluminum invisible. I got out the eraser/aluminum housing unit by sticking a sewing needle into the eraser at a diagonal angle & pulling up on it. The problem of flush eraser/invisible aluminum rim can be avoided if one occasionally readjusts the eraser while there’s still a bit of useable eraser left. If it appears that your DraftMatic eraser is stuck, you might try the above technique.

Q: One of the features mentioned on their website is a "rotating lead degree window" near top clip. What is the function of this?

Since you can load different hardness leads in this pencil, they print several different types of lead on the pencil and have a rotating metal band with a window in it that you move until the type of lead you have is showing. For example, you can rotate it until "2B", "B", "HB", "F", "H", 2H, or "4H" shows thru the window.

Q: where is pencil made?

The Alvin website lists the country of origin as Japan. I haven't found any markings on the pencil or plastic sleeve it was shipped in to indicate a country of origin.
