Tool quickly found and cleared DTC's
The tool did a scan for the make and year of the vehicle. Then it promoted me whether I wanted to scan all onboard modules. It performed test with the ignition on and running, or just with the ignition on. After doing test and evaluating live data. I replaced the faulty part and the tool cleared all DTC's. This tool is awesome. Damn better than dealer specific diagnostic tools. I recommend this tool to all diy mechanics.

Impressive scanner, returned transfer case error codes
Impressed with the initial operation of this unit. It was a bit cumbersome stepping through a dozen or so choices to pinpoint my exact vehicle and options, and I would not like doing this every time. THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO SAVE VEHICLE PROFILES!!! So, hopefully with those free lifetime updates, the manufacturer will include this in the future, or the VIN scan would provide all the details for you! The unit worked well, connected and returned codes from my TCCM (transfer case control module). I also discovered that just doing a quick OBDII scan bypassed the need to select make, model, year, engine, brakes, powertrain, etc. and returned all the same codes. So maybe the vehicle profile thing is not that big a deal. I recommend avoiding the SCAN icon and just use the OBDII icon for direct results! FYI mine is a 2005 GMC Yukon XL.

A Rugged, Quality tester full of features
I like all of the features, and abilities of this unit. I needed ABS and Transmission insight. I was using and older Edge CS diesel to read my codes, but it would only see a P1000.With the ML-629, I am able to see P1000, P0565, P0566, P0567, P0568, P0569, C1175, C1236, B2900, U1900.The one negative comment I can make, has to do with the supported operating systems that are used to update the ML-629's software. For example, using Apple Mac OS 10.15.5 Catalina with all updates installed, I have to remove the SD card from the ML-629, use a usb sd card adapter, plug it in the computer, run the Maxi Suite PC program (v 1.12) which crashes before running, hit the 'ignore' button displayed, immediately run the Maxi Suite PC program, and the second time, it runs correctly. Maxi Suite PC recognizes the inserted sd card and will let you update the available data updates. The Mac version of the program does not have a Print Tool, which you can use to print out your saved error codes from your vehicle. The Windows version of the program does have the Print Tool. All in all, the ML-629 is a high quality tester and includes a removable OBD cable, USB mini cable, a nice carrying case, a printed User Manual, a printed Quick Start Guide, and a removable 8GB sd card that the data is stored on.The Autel Technical Support is quick to respond, and their community forum is lacking decent threads on the ML629, but I don't consider that to reflect negatively on Autel.

Excellent scanner with many program options
It saved me a lot of money and time because now I can see what’s wrong with my car without seeing the mechanic. I liked it because it’s an excellent value for the money, easy to use and navigate. It gives you the ability to look up codes on the unit which saves you time. There are many program options you get with this scanner. It also comes in a nice storage bag.

for an autel - it is just a cheap Chinese copy -- is this a real autel? junk!
It is the SAME thing as one of the no name Chinese branded ones. absolute garbage. it barely works..slow, it freezes, etc.Don't buy. I only bought it cause it was branded by autel, which makes top of the line automotive scanners. this is nothing more than cheap Chinese junk.

Great price, easy to use.
Does exactly as it says, and comes in a nice little carrying case. I've never used one of these beyond watching it done, and I used this with no issues. For the price and confidence of knowing what needs repaired before you have it estimated, well worth it.

Get the newer model
I bought this highly reviewed unit and it did what it advertised, it correctly diagnosed an issue I had along with a possible fix on a 2008 vehicle I had. That's why it's getting 3 stars. However, I unfortunately didn't need it for one of my cars until this week. It's a 2018, so the car is 2 years old and the ML629 would not read it whatsoever.I went to the website, and was very frustrated with the login process, it kept telling me that I couldn't log in, after having reset my password and even clicked on the link to email my username to me. It still would not let me in. After googling a few different phrases, I found another link which let me into the site, download the software, only to find out that there were no new updates past 2017. For any vehicle they had listed.Essentially the frustration with the website, along with fact I can not use the unit for anything newer than a 2017 is why I'm giving it 3 stars. When I came online to write a review, I see there is a new "2021 model" with the same ML629 model number. My advice is to get the newer version and hope they keep the software updated, or to buy another unit. I went with a highly reviewed bluetooth model which was almost the same price, and have been far happier with what I'm seeing. I'll keep this unit as it's still useful for cars prior to 2018.
