Very poor design, impossible to keep clean.
I bought these to use for removing bones after making bone broth which I do monthly. The ends don’t grip nearly as well as I expected they would, being made of silicone. But the biggest problem I encountered is the design of the main bars. If you zoom in on the photo, you’ll notice that the inner side of the bar has an opening and is hollow. That makes it completely impossible to clean that area at all. So basically you can only clean the tips in the outer sides, and anything that gets inside those bars is stuck there pretty much forever unless you dig out it with toothpicks or something.I’m going to return these. I’m not going to use toothpicks to try and clean my tongs, and I certainly don’t want to put these back in a drawer or use them again when they have gunk stuck inside of them that I can’t get out!

ABSOLUTE JUNK
I can't believe they actually ship this garbage.. The silicone tips fall right off after some use. Buy the OXO much better product

Just what I needed
I've had a pair of non-locking tongs for literally decades. Now I'm trying to (re)organize my utensil drawer and I thought "Why am I still keeping these chintzy tongs around that don't fit neatly in a drawer (and sometimes jam it up on opening), not to mention the sharp edges at the business end that, for instance, tear up my whole spatchcocked chicken on the grill when I try to turn it?" Of course I had seen locking tongs with silicon tips for years in the kitchen gadget stores but I didn't want to pay over $20 for a set. I was finally ready for a change and found these. I haven't had them long and only used a few times, but I love 'em and I think they're everything I was looking for at a very reasonable price.

Hotec Tongs are not useful for handling heavy food items
I bought these tongs because I thought they were well constructed by the description. I was in for an unpleasant surprise when I used the tongs to place marinated boneless chicken breasts on my gas grill. When applying what I thought was enough pressure to hold the meat, the tip of the tongs bent backwards, making them useless. Upon closer inspection, I found that the silicone rubber tip was clamped into the tongs and was not silicone rubber cladding over metal tongs as I had expected when I looked at the product description. This makes them useless for food items that have any weight. I found a similar set made by Oneida that had silicone rubber cladding over metal tong tips at a local Walmart and they were 20% cheaper than the Hotec tongs. The Hotec tongs were consigned to the trash after only a couple of uses.

Good, inexpensive tongs
For a very good price, you get both a 9" AND a 12" pair of tongs. They have silicone on the grabbing surface and where you grip the tongs. that keeps my non-stick pans and my hands safe. I thought I'd need the 12" ones for removing corn on the cob from boiling water. The 9" are actually sufficient. One possible negative is that the tongs do not have solid arms. The inner edge of the tongs is open. Food or water could get trapped there. I have had no trouble, but be aware.

Once again, big bang for the buck!!
We recently bought an air-fryer and needed the silicone tips as not to scratch the lining of the basket. I saw these two listed, and though we only needed the shorter one, the two-pack price on these were half the price for one of the longer tongs in the grocery store so I figured this is a no-brainer.The quality of these utensils is great, and like I said for the money they can't be beat.

Equivalent to Dollar Store purchase
These suck. They bent the first time I used them. It's comical using these with any seared food, you literally manhandle any meat or food by squishing it to ensure you can even pick it up, or rubbing off all the spices by trying to pick up the item over and over and it slipping off the food. It's something equivalent to a dollar store purchase. Even if cheap, why have a tool that is so frustrating and can ruin your food by slipping off, or worse, not picking up in time at all! Skip these and just get the good kind, my OXO tongs, metal and plastic have lasted me years.

NOT Sturdy!
Tongs are an important part of my kitchen life because almost everything I do is baked, grilled or broiled and therefore need tongs on a daily basis in order to meet my dietary needs. In fact, they don't even go in the drawer; they permanently life in a vertical spoon holder right next to the stove in order to make sure they are always handy.I had a pair of Cuisinart tongs that i purchased several years ago that were a workhorse and met every challenge that I could throw at them. However, eventually the spring broken in them and they could no longer be closed and stored. To replace them, I found these and based off the reviews ordered them as a replacement for my Cuisinarts. The first challenge? Turkey bacon... making breakfast for the family, ,I went to use them to turn the bacon and they wouldn't pick up the bacon. Come to find out, when in the close position the tong ends didn't even meet each other enough to pick up bacon. I lightly squeezed the ends together and they actually bent into position so they were completely closed; that should have been a big ol' flashing light red warning light on them then (that I could use my fingers to permanently squeeze them into a new angle) but didn't pay attention.Things seemed fine until the other night - and when I went to flip a steak on the grill, one end completely bent backwards and I ended up dropping the steak on the ground because of it. We aren't even talking 1/2 a cow or anything - the steak was perhaps 8oz or so, meaning it was not that heavy. These are just cheaply made with aluminum shafts and badly attached silicone ends that have no strength whatsoever. Move onward to find something better, or you're going to be just like me - looking for another pair of tongs after a couple of months, tired of cheap Chinese junk. Good luck!

Great Purchase
My wife and I purchased these tongs as they were very reasonably priced, we know you sometimes get what you pay for, but in this case the tongs are as good if not better the previous and far more expensive ones we had, we would recommend them to anyone.

Good For The Price...
Useful addition for anyone that cooks regularly, silicon heads on metal body. Bought these to replace my old ones but not as good quality, just a slightly cheaper feel. Offset by the fact that they were very cheap so overall good value.

Pretty Good
They seem like good quality tongs so far. I’ll add an update if anything changes but a good buy. They’re not the cheapest option but not extortionate either so happy with them so far.

These are great!
Brilliant value, as these are very good quality, better than the John Lewis one I had previously. I especially love the smaller one which is excellent for turning food when grilling or frying.
