Q: Does this work well on metal?

It works to mark things; wouldn't recommend for fine or detailed work. Takes a little practice to keep smaller, straighter lines on such a smooth surface. My lines had a pretty rough texture to them, though that may improve with more use and practice. It's definitely convenient, pick it up like any pen.

Q: Does it work on beads

If they are Wood, Metal, Ceramic, GLASS it will can work. It may depend on whether there are latent stresses within the ceramic or glass, though, since the vibration might cause fractures. It may also depend on the size of the beads and the skill of the engraver. Some people may get it to work on all materials, others may not get it to work on any type of bead.
