"The Creature's HAMMER Forgot"
We're going back to the "caveman days" as we follow a human tribe that communicates with eachother using just grunts and snarls as they survive a harsh and barren desert after their settlement is torn apart due to a huge volcanic eruption. The now depleted tribe must move on and mingle with another tribe in order to endure the bleak landscape they share, but jealousy and an internal power struggle threaten to fragment their coexistence. The third of Hammer's pre-historic adventures may have left movie-goers a bit short changed due to its absence of dinosaurs or other giant beastie's and it's often labeled "The Creature's Hammer Forgot" as a mocking alternative title. But what is served up is a more immersive and believable glimpse into the world of primitive man, although the exaggerated "caveman" behaviour may come across a bit laughable at times you do feel like you've been dropped back in to the time period. The story is fairly straightforward but quite convulted at times and the lack of dialogue doesn't help with the confusion either, but you get the gist of what's going on. Things get quite violent at times with a rather gruesome hunting scene of an antelope and with fights often breaking out between tribesman with impalement's aplenty. The local wildlife also provide some deadly encounters with a rather vicious attack from pointy antlered Oryx and a totally ridiculous cave Bear attack which was so obviously a guy wearing a suit it was laughable. But despite these violent moments, the odd bit of topless nudity and a couple instances of attempted rape I still feel the 18 rating is rather unnecessary and harsh, I've seen far worse in 15 rated movies. So, a much better film than I had heard it to be, quite a rewarding watch if viewed in the right frame of mind. Definitely underappreciated. Would have been great if Indicator had done a box set which included One Million Years B.C and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth. But as it is they've put together a nice lavish set including an 80-page book and a rather saucy set of promo cards featuring the eye-candy of the piece Julie Ege. The picture quality of the Blu-ray transfer was pretty decent though not quite as nice or fresh as I had anticipated, especially considering the majority of the film takes place during bright daylight hours. It still is a nice addition to your Indicator collection, but if you have just a casual interest in the genre or Hammer films you might want to wait around for the inevitable cheaper standard release.

... not invented till the 19th century but it's still good fun despite that but why hammer made two caveman ...
There have been a few caveman movies only one of which is anywhere near accurate or even believable as the bra was not invented till the 19th century but it's still good fun despite that but why hammer made two caveman movies I have no idea

For a hammer film it was pretty bad.
Creatures that time forgot was slow and boring this was supposed to be a follow up to when dinosaurs ruled the earth.
