A modern fairy tale done right
Looks and sounds great, the story is thought-provoking and heartfelt. The case came nicely packaged, nothing damaged.

How did this movie not get more attention?
Corporations are not evil by definition, but there is a profit motive that some people use to justify even the most abhorrent behavior. What better way to demonstrate that than by using the relationship between a young child and a beautifully rendered, anthropomorphic beast? What better way to demonstrate that we play a role in this, even though we do not make corporate decisions, by calling attention to our own motive, especially when it relates to a food that is so notoriously addictive to most of us, that there are thousands of jokes that reference our love of - bacon. The bonus features do not ruin the magic of the film - in fact for me they add a sense of wonder in how the filmmakers created the world and effects.Watching the film again, you do not see special effects. You still see Okja.

Underappreciated Masterpiece
When I saw the ads for Okja, I initially dismissed it as just another CGI nonsense movie. I couldn't be more mistaken. When I finally decided to give this move a shot (based on the fact Criterion chose to add it to their collection), I was blown away. This movie is one of the few near-perfect films that I would rank in my all-time top ten. I have watched it multiple times and cry uncontrollably ever single time. The directing, writing, casting, and acting is all spot on - but Ahn Seo Hyun absolutely kills it in what I consider to be one of the best female protagonist roles of this century. Do yourself a favor and watch this today.

Four Stars
I got this movie thinking it was going to be a crappy waste of time, but the opposite happened. Enjoyed the humor, cinematography, and they did well with the special effects and computer generated imagery.

Review about the product not the movie
I am not going to talk about the movie. The movie was great from the beginning when I saw it from Netflix and I don't think this page is to review the movie. More for the technical review. The video was great. Mostly the nature part of Korea was so beautifully shot and color corrected. I never saw this movie in a theater but I'm sure this 4k disc is the best that they can make. The audio. Most of the time, there was not many surround sound but small details were alive. I felt it all the time which was a great pleasure. The traffic, the bird sound and so on.

Must see movie. Grab Kleenex box.
Had seen previously a few yrs back on netflix as it's a netflix exclusive movie. Moved 4 years ago and no netflix or internet. Had looked for this movie elsewhere with no luck and recently came across it here on amazon and had to order it. A must see eye opener movie for the whole family. 🌱❤

One of my favorite films
This is one of my favorite films of all time and the Blu ray is fantastic. Glad I finally get to own this one. At times funny, action packed and sometimes completely and utterly heartbreaking, it’s a great film that has a very important message.

Quite enjoyable film
Had never seen Okja before ordering, but had seen the rest of Bong Joon-ho's films, and admire his ability to make entertaining and thoughtful films in such a wide variety of genre's. Okja is a fantasy film, where a young girl befriend's a huge but gentle pig that the Mirando corporation gave 26 people around the world for 10 years to see if the pigs can become part of the solution to providing food for an ever expanding world population. And Mirando wants them back. But the girl and some intense animal rights activists have other ideas. It combines environmental concerns, animal rights and greedy capitalism, but other than the young girl, nobody comes out of it looking particularly noble. It is well acted, beautifully filmed, the special effects for the pig are spectacular, the climax is a bit over the top. As usual with Criterion, lots of extras to view after the film, the discussion with the director and producer is quite enjoyable.
