Worked as expected. Used a bunch of hard drives from an old nas. RAID 5 setup in less than a minute. NTFS format in 30 seconds. Drive shared and ready in 5 minutes. 5x3tb online.

Pretty useless without the RAID manager and that does not work on Apple Silicon... Tye manufacturer website is useless and no support anywhere... Stay away!

I have other enclosures from this company but I really didn't like this one and and returned it. It is harder to manipulate drives in this form factor then their others. The other 5 bay enclosures are much better.

Update #2: The unit's cooling is severely inadequate. I cannot keep my hand on the surface of the drive because it burns me. That is NOT a good sign at all, I'm scrambling to figure out how to improve airflow. Docking a star, although I knew it was poor from the beginning, I assumed it wasn't 100% useless. Update: The first one was indeed faulty once I received my USB cable order from amazon. It did not see the drives. Contacted them via email, and the manufacturer basically said they don't offer support, they recommend returning the item to where I bought it from. So keep that in mind - you're on your own with the product. For that reason I give it a 2/5. The replacement unit works quite well. Airflow is very poor with the lid on (there's very small vent holes on the sides of the item). I keep the lid off completely, drives are not loud enough to bother or need the lid. The item's fan is inaudible which is great. Overall the item has a cooling design problem and no support from manufacturer, so keep the two in mind if you're looking into purchasing it. ----------- Bought a new device and got a used device with a missing manual, usb 3.0, and registration card. Can't connect it to a computer. It turns on, sure, does it work? Who knows?! And why am I paying full price for a device that IS NOT new? Will update this review once I get a cable. Until then the device is NOT as described, and as far as I know DOA.
