I recently installed this aftermarket Apple CarPlay upgrade, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! The installation and setup was easier than expected, and it integrated seamlessly with my car. The reviews on this are spot on.. It's a really nice head unit. The Toyota Entune in the 2016 Highlander is trash. This is an amazing upgrade. Adds a really nice 10" HD screen. The Android Auto works really well. The install was great. I did find the wiring a little bit confusing. Setting up the Android/Phone was confusing and would be nice to have a more concise guide as to how to set up the software. I had to play around with it quite a bit to get the speech to work with Android auto and to get the steering wheel controls to work. Also, I guess the built in mic is no good, so they send a wired mic. Still trying to find a good spot for it on the dash because I don't feel like taking the dash apart further to get it on the top of the windshield. The music actually sounds better and with the Sirius XM app I don't need the satellite module. All in all, I would recommend to someone with a 2016 Highlander.

Bought this unit to get apple carplay in my 2017 Highlander... not disappointed. Watched multiple videos for installation help which was key to a relatively easy install. If you aren't a bit handy, might have some trouble with all the wiring. My only complaint, not the fault of the seller or the unit in particular, but I lost the XM radio from my factory unit... but as an XM subscriber, you can use the XM Radio App on your phone to get all your stations though this radio. Small price to pay for this large-screen, Carplay enabled unit in my car. Happy with purchase and would recommend.

Unless your an expert then I would say no to this unit. I was a mechanic for years so I know my way around a little bit. I was not an audio tech but still think I have a good ideal of what's going on. With that said the unit was for the most part easy to install and looks great in my 2016 highlander. BUT after that your pretty much on your own. The backup cam didn't work, the steering wheel controls didn't work google would not link up. I had the unit hooked up to my house internet for faster down loads. As a matter of fact the only things that seemed to work was the receiving calls and the radio. None of the car setting could be set. Now in there defense I'm not saying that a lot of these things could be fixed if you want to speed DAYS searching the internet and hours on YouTube looking for the answers because this unit comes with pretty much NO instructions and the ones that did come with it didn't match with this unit. Now I knew that I would lose few functions BUT as you will find they don't tell you which ones soooooo how do you even know what can be fixed. I think it's sad that for the price they could do a lot better. For this reason I returned the unit.
