An extremely well-designed pocket transit.
I'm no geologist, but I had the opportunity to give one of these a shot thanks to being part of Vine, so I leapt at the opportunity. Keep in mind that this thing comes with links to instructional videos on its use for a reason! It's got a ton of features, many of which are useful to geologists (and similar professions, I assume) specifically, but are fun for a lay person to use as well.You absolutely do not need a mirror, and I don't understand how the person who left a 1-star review referencing its lack of mirror thought it was a problem. Being mirrorless is addressed in one of the instructional videos (which, again, you should watch!) because, and I quote: "directional bearings can be sighted through the hinge, without the need for a sighting arm or mirror."The video also pokes fun at the fact that you'll need to find another way to shave or change contacts, so if you're used to using the mirror for other purposes I can see being mildly disappointed!Anyway, this thing is absolutely packed full of neat features and works excellently, check out those videos, they'll teach you everything, including the different configurations!
