Disappointed in this vacuum. I purchased this because I have a cat and wanted a vacuum that would help with the fur and litter issues. Unfortunately, this machine is more of a hassle than convenient! The small piece that claims to suck pet hair is way too small to be used for the whole apartment and on top of that it only rotates with air suction so if you press down hard into carpet it will stop. So much for getting hair out. Secondly, the hose is made of plastic and metal and the metal does not stick to the plastic so therefore it's always falling off. It's fallen on my toes a few times already causing pain and even some blood. Third, I wish I had known that the cord did not automatically recoil inward but rather you need to unwrap and wrap yourself. 4th) The fact that this vacuum spews more dust from the back and unsettles the dirt not yet picked up from the back is terribly inconvenient and unhealthy. Should have gotten the Miele instead.

I bought the 3671A model, and was pleasantly surprised at how effective and even ingenious it turned out to be, considering some of the negative reviews I'd read of the 3670 series. First, my observations about the negatives: The hose seems perfectly sturdy and didn't kink at all during the two times I've used the machine. As for the sound level, it's no louder than any other vacuum I've ever used, and in fact my cat didn't even run away from it (the way he's done with other vacuums) until I started vacuuming right under the chair he was sitting in. I found no fault with the suction power; the machine picked up bits of paper and cat litter easily without multiple passes. Okay, the cord could be a little longer, but then there wouldn't be room for all of it to wind up under the machine -- and making the cord retractable would just make the canister bigger instead of the neatly compact size it is now. Now the good parts: I have mostly laminate flooring, with Berber carpet in the bedroom. The floor brush changes easily from one function to the other, and both seem quite effective, with very good suction. Not only didn't the floor tool scratch my laminate, but the laminate actually shone when I was through. The other tools fit neatly into the canister, including the multipurpose furniture/upholstery tool, which is especially ingenious. The tool is actually two different tools (brush and upholstery) on one part, with two different openings for the hose, so you can switch from brush to upholstery by flipping the tool over and switching the hose into the appropriate opening. This saves carrying around two different tools, and saves a surprising amount of time and effort. Another plus is the way the vacuum bag goes into the machine. Contrary to the instructions on the bag and in the user's manual, it simply drops into place and is held there when you close the front of the machine - no bending of flaps or wrestling with inserts. The shoulder strap is wonderful for carrying the vacuum from room to room, although I wouldn't use it during actual vacuuming, since it could easily slip off the shoulder when you lean over to do upholstery or tight corners. And finally, the whole system really is incredibly light, and yet the motor is powerful enough to do a heavy-duty cleaning. I'm almost looking forward to my next cleaning day with this excellent little vacuum cleaner. (Note: I said "almost.")

We have 3 dogs, a Dyson 41 Animal vacuum (approx. $550), and a Miele Solara vacuum ($700). I have to take the vacs apart continually with a screwdriver because the dog hair gets caught on each side of the brush head. It finally got to the point that I had to drop the Dyson, and also a stick vac (Hoover) at the vacuum fixit place in town because I just couldn't get enough of the hair out. While there, I asked the owner to recommend to me a vac that would be great for dealing with dog hair. He pointed to this model and swore it was the best. It was $149. I thought I would buy it when I returned to the store. In the meantime, I decided to research on the internet what others thought. I came across several lists and this vac was one of the ones listed. It had a button to go directly to Amazon, which I did. When I saw that it was half what the vac store wanted to sell it for, I ordered it from Amazon for $75. I can't say enough good about this vacuum! It's very light, has a metal tube that extends way longer than I would ever need, and just rolls right along---no heavy dragging and fighting with it. It is true that the handle does not stand up on its own, and no you can only carry one tool aboard. But for me, what is important is that it does not have a beater bar and brush, and therefore nothing revolving for dog hair to get caught up in. The suction is so great that I have to keep the little dial open partially to adjust the suction. Otherwise, the suction is so great I can't even push it on hardwood floors. It does pick up dirt and dog hair from the area rugs, but of course, the Dyson 41 would probably do the rugs better. But, the Dyson41 for me, is heavy and when I am done vacuuming, I am exhausted. This little Eureka is so light that I can vacuum everywhere and when I'm done, I still have energy to wash the floors. I will continue to use it as my first choice for picking up dog hair. If anything needs fine tuning after that, I will take the Dyson 41, but on a very limited basis. I expect the Dyson 41 will work perfectly for a really long time now since most of the dog hair will be picked up by the Eureka. Vacuum bags and a new HEPA filter can also be ordered on Amazon, and they are a lot cheaper than at a local store. We are very impressed with the capabilities of this little machine. Don't let price fool you! It is exactly what my house needed!

I believe this is the most functional and flexible home vacuum that money can buy in the US. I've had one for 11 years. It still works like new on our wood floors, tile, medium-pile wool carpets, upholstered chairs, and fur-matted cat cushions. But I wanted a dedicated vacuum for the workshop, so I exhaustively researched new home vacuums at all prices...and still ended up buying this one again. All home vacuums sold in the US max out ~12 amps due to electrical safety constraints, so they all max out at 130-150 cfm airflow. Look at the manufacturer specs. A $600 Miele vacuum gives you the same performance as this $60 unit. What makes this 12-amp unit better than all the rest, is its super-light weight. The canister is less than 8 pounds, including cord & attachments. You can carry it in one hand while you vacuum, or you can put it on a shoulder strap. This makes it super easy and fast to move around furniture, walls, stairs, carseats, etc. The basic MM design has been the same for over 15 years. Eureka sells it under different brands, with two different motors (10A vs 12A), and various different attachments in the box. But all the parts are interchangeable across models. Hundreds of stores sell the parts. Bags cost less than $1 each online, less than $2 each in the local hardware store. Any standard 1.25" ID attachment works. I ordered a soft-bristle (horsehair) duster for shelves & electronics, and a half-width (5") nozzle for the stairs, from Amazon, for just $5 each. If you need to clean cobwebs from a 16-18 foot ceiling, I think the extra extension wands also run about $5. OK, the downsides: -- The 12 amp motor currently comes in yellow or purple only. I prefer red, but the red model (Sanitaire SC3683A) is 10 amps. -- It is louder than some of the super-expensive models. Though frankly all vacuum cleaners are noisy...and if you can vacuum your home 2x faster, the noise lasts only half as long. :) -- It looks and feels cheap. But this does not affect performance, usability, or durability. The only maintenance I've done on my 11-year old model was to add a few drops of oil to the motor shaft, about 4 years ago. After that it ran cooler and quieter. I know I'm gushing, but I've owned so many poorly-designed, failure-prone consumer products over the years, that I love to find a perfectly functional, durable product. And even better when it's super cheap. Nice one, Eureka. Hope this helps.

Very light, great suction, long hose and tube. The lack of a hepa filter is no big deal for me. But it may be for some. I think a hepa attachment is available. This is an amazingly easy to use, effective, inexpensive vacuum. I have 3 cats and they shed. This baby makes short work of cat hair. My only niggle is I wish there was an attachment that was hand size and had hard plastic protrusion about 1/2 inch long all around so it could get close to a flexible surface without getting stuck due to the incredibly strong suction. It also makes for a great car vacuum with the crevice tool. This is an awesome deal.
