I bought this as an AWD, and it came in perfect condition and well packaged, though in a shipping box that was way too big. The knife is huge--after using a somewhat shorter knife, it takes some getting used to the length on this one. It's quite sharp, but it only came in a plastic sleeve, so I've put it in its own compartment in the cutlery drawer. (I don't like my knives on the counter or wall--too much extra cleaning if they aren't used regularly). I'm not a knife connoisseur or snob, though I do love to cook and do so often. This works well for me, and that's what's important to me.
