Operational tips help a lot
Operates very quietly and is fairly simple to fill the water/ ice packs. It does blow cold air if the temp is less than the high 90°Fs. Otherwise it cool air. Adding ice cubes periodically helps tremendously. I've also been changing out the cold packs with fresh ones (purchased separately at WalMart), when it begins to blow warm. And on extremely hot days, this cooling fan does assist the AC extremely well. Being able to function the fan both on the unit and by remote is handy, as is the water level viewer is very easy to see.I wish they'd sell additional ice packs when first ordered, but they don't. With a little monitoring, it does keep a room very comfortable. So far I'm pleased with my purchase and would buy again.

It's okay as an affordable, portable swamp cooler for a small, ventilated space.
I ordered this in light of a recent heat wave and because Im a broke millenial and AC units are expensive. I've only had it running for a day so I can't speak on it's longevity. I live in the Intermountain west with hot, dry summer, so I figured this would be a step up from draping a wet towel over a fan, without shelling out more money for an actual AC unit.Caveats:- you need to use this with an open window so that the humidified air can escape. I tested this with windows closed and it temporarily felt a bit cooler but then just became muggy in my small apartment. So if you live in the west and need to keep windows closed during wildfire season like myself, this will not replace an AC for the purpose of filtering your air.- it's portable. It's not too expensive.- it's pretty easy to assemble.- it does what it's designed to do: cool a small space a bit via evaporative cooling.- I like that it comes with a remote to adjust the various settings and fan direction.- seems reasonably easy to clean the filters and water tank.- nice for sitting in front of or pointing at your bed.Meh:- the included ice packs are mostly a gimmick since the water tank isn't insulated, so while it may temporarily cool the water in the tank, the water will quickly return to the ambient temperature once the ice packs/any ice you add to the tank melts. I added ice cubes to my tank in addition to the included ice packs and didn't notice much of a difference in the temperature of the air put out by the fan.- I wish the fan was more powerful. My cheap box fan from the hardware store does a better job of moving air than this does at its highest fan speed.- you can't adjust the humidity output other than "on" and "off".- it's kind of an expensive but mediocre oscillating fan that doubles as a low-budget portable swamp cooler.

Excellent fan
This fan is incredible!! We had a mini heatwave in NH this spring 2023, and this fan was perfect. It was too early to put in the AC because it would get cold again. The water and ice packs was just like AC and cooled off the room I was in with no problem. The fan shows when the water gets low, just refill and it's good to go. In two days I filled it twice. I do recommend this fan and I bought one for my neighbor.

Works okay for cooling, better just as a way to get some moisture in the air.
Works okay. My biggest problem is the water tank. I opened it yesterday to refill and the little bit of water in there is disgusting but I can't see a way to detach the tank to clean it. If I have to clean it while attached, it's going to be extremely hard because the unit is unwieldy. I won't use it again until I can get it cleaned so, it might be done.

This is a pretty good buy.
The media could not be loaded. Okay, I really hate buying things that don't turn out like I think they should. This is okay right in the ballpark. You can see the video but you can't feel it, too bad. Here in front of the cooler runs about 20° less than the room temperature. The room temperature really doesn't change much at all, you have to sit in front of it, but that's fine. Very quiet unit even on high.

Replacement pads, nonexistent!
Had a clumsy, huge version of this air cooler when I was a kid. This modern version is sleek and helpful. I add a medium sized chunk of ice from a frozen plastic container to the water in the reservoir. *** Here's a little secret- I add 2 drops of essential oil and...heaven. On oscillate my bedroom is nicely fragranced. There are days when the a/c is too much but I still need the slightly moist cool air. This works. On other days I do use both. The ice packs are useless as they melt before they are of any help. Caution- unhook the inner plug thingy in the reservoir and unscrew the back sponge filter to wash them both every now and again with bleach cleanser. Rinse carefully. If you've ever smelled a fish tank that needed cleaning you'll know why. lastly, I raised this tower on a small stand. even at 40" it is too low to circulate the way I want it to.Update two years in. I emailed Dreo CS to locate replacement pads. They don't sell them. I've washed the pads past their useful life and they're smelly and falling apart. The misting feature doesn't function, which is the main reason I use it in the first place. Never buying this brand again. It was too expensive a product to be made useless because a replacement part cannot be replaced.

Cool Off without A/C
This air cooler is fantastic. You fill the tank with water and turn it on. It blows a cool breeze. There are 3 different speeds. It has a timer, remote control and it oscillates. It comes with two ice packs that you can freeze and put into the water tank to make your breeze even cooler. Or you can put ice in the tank too. The only problem I had was putting the base on it. It was difficult for me, but I finally got it done. I would recommend this product.
