Good pickup for classical guitars and ukuleles. Cable could be better shielded.
I like the simplicity of this pickup and its rather small size. Not having a volume control means one less thing to fail. In any case, I prefer to adjust the volume on my amp.The wooden casing makes the UP-1 look a little less out of place on my instruments. I only wish that they were made of a darker wood (like rosewood) so that they would match the bridge woods on the soundboard.I ordered a bunch of them when they were on sale and I leave them semi-permanently attached on my classical guitars and ukuleles. I'm inclined to agree that they're overpriced at $40 but I think they're fairly priced at $30.You should experiment with their placement to find the best tone and string balance. For my classical guitars, I place them about an inch below the bridge between the 2nd and 3rd strings. For my tenor ukulele, the best location was three inches from the center on the treble side and just below the bridge.I use the blue-tack very sparingly and try to spread it out as thinly as possible. I then flatten the tack by pressing it against a smooth piece of plastic on a table before attaching it to the soundboard. This way, I don't have to use a lot of pressure when pressing it on the soundboard and I get more full and even contact. You should also find some way to secure the cable so that it's less likely to tap on the soundboard or be accidentally pulled off. I attached a small suction cup to the cable using a zip-tie so that I could secure it to the lower sides of my instruments. The accompanying cable is not very well shielded and that can be an issue depending on what sort of amp you are using. I have no problem with my Positive Grid amp but I did notice a light hum when using my Yamaha THRII acoustic amp. This forced me to buy a better-shielded cable for use with the Yamaha.

Amazing sound!
I needed a couple non-permanent acoustic pickups that were relatively inexpensive. I purchased both an AP1 and a UP1. I am absolutely in shock and awe by how good these sound! I didn’t expect much from pickups under $50 since “the good ones” typically go for around $200. These KNA pickups blow away the more expensive ones I’ve tried. I might even use them for recording- they’re that good!!

Great but could be better quality
It worked very well with my Guqin (a rare Chinese music instrument) and the soundcame out from the amplifier is amazing, crisp, way better than an expensive mic. Why I didn't give 5star was the product quality: i put it on my instrument using the blue rubber provided with the pickup, after only a few uses, the thin layer of the cover separated from the body and fall apart, see the photo, I had to send it back to exchange. Not sure what's the problem but the craftsmanship should be better. Also the connection wire came with it is a bit loose at the insert, I had to replace it with my own.

Tiny size, poorly packed, OVERPRICED!
Far smaller than I expected. About size of a USA nickel coin or less. Worse than that, it was sent in thin envelope, zero protection, and arrived with the pickup box smashed flat, pickup half hanging out of that smashed box. Sure abuse and absolute zero regards of safe shipping from seller. Way overpriced (at near $40USD) since you can get same sound with cheaper stick on piezo all over the place.

Sounds good
Putty doesn’t work. I used the stick pad and attached it to the bridge.Need a preamp with it.
