Cutting to the chase, BUY THIS...
Let me just get to it. Buy this. This product has changed everything about grilling. I've been a less than mediocre outdoor grill cook. No matter what I tried, never consistent. We're talking years. Recently purchased an infrared type grill. Continued to struggle with gaining consistency. Enter this grill mat. It changed everything. First, it distributed the heat evenly. FINALLY. I was able to use this grill without constant uneven results. It produced those wonderful grill marks which do make for flavor. But also found it made for basting meats and veggies so much moire consistent. Things stayed on and cooked in. Instead of being torn off with grilling directly onto the stainless steel grill elements. Consistency is the name of the game now. But there is one more huge upside. One of my grills is a circular infrared unit. I cut this mat to cover 3/4ths of the surface area. On the exposed 1/4th, I place various wood. Like hickory, charcoal'd mesquite, etc. Before, I could never get these wood pieces to ever really burn, to produce the smoker type effect. By placing this mat on 3/4ths of the grilling area, it forces the "flame heat" up through the exposed 1/4 and now any wood I place there for a smoker type effect easily sparks up and smolders. Creating a perfect smoker type thing. Brilliant. It has absolutely enhanced the grilling experience. Excellent even heat distribution, provides a wonderful smoker type response, and I have to turn the propane burner down because the grill mat has created much greater efficiency. Am using far less propane... not that this matters. But it is a further representation of how much more efficient the heat distribution is. This mat technology has made things SO much better. The results are flavors are far richer, deeper than before . Yeah... I am excited by all this because I've struggled for years to just be remotely consistent. Has totally changed how grilling works. I am about to go into related types of cooking, like a stove grill using this mat. I have no doubt this will greatly improve the stove top experience too. Buy it. Has changed my cooking life... something I'd pretty much given up on. Awesome yet simple product.

Lots of pluses, a couple of minuses...
As the advertising states, the heat goes through these mats, and they do keep the grill fairly clean, and they are generally non-stick. As a result, they do slide around on the grill very easily, and you have to hold the mat with tongs in one hand while you turn whatever you're grilling with the other hand. The up side to that is I can just turn the mat to position certain meats off the direct heat and over a part of the grill providing indirect heat (i.e. for chicken legs and breasts after the initial browning) instead of having to re-position each piece individually. I also noticed the mats do get crusted with the meat juices and that can be a problem when washing them. Not everything just slides right off - even with fairly aggressive scrubbing. You don't want to use a scouring brush or anything too abrasive, so sometimes it involves a bit of soap and a lot of "elbow grease." The bottom line is they do help to keep the grill grating free of all that mess while cooking, grilled items don't stick to the grating like they might without the mat, they allow the same wonderful grilled flavoring to whatever is prepared on the grill, and they do clean up fairly conveniently (a lot easier than cleaning the grill with a wire brush and paper towels), so I'll keep using them and consider them a good buy.

Clean way to grill with no meat loss
We have been migrating our diet away from solid red meats to more plant-based foods. That's fine for health, but bad for grilling."Burgers" made of black beans, turkey, veggies, etc totally fall apart on an open grill making my healthy lunch end up in the grease bucket.Babyltrl's grill mats solved that problem beautifully. I was able to grill all burgers to taste with no loss. As a bonus, the burgers remained moist since the grease could be managed under my control. I simply pushed the unwanted grease away over the edge.When grilling was done, the mats cleaned up nicely to be used again. I stored them along with my wire brush, flame starter, and other grilling paraphernalia I use. As for sanitation, no matter how much I scrape the grill, it could never be as clean as the grill mat.After this recent experience, I wouldn't grill without it. The only thing I miss is the grill burn stripes.

All purpose mat, great for any grill
These mats are the ideal thing to keep your grill clean and your food from burning. Now don’t get me wrong if you don’t tend to your food as you should it still will burn but it makes grilling and clean up so much better. We used these for the July 4th weekend and I will say that I loved them. They fit perfectly on the grill, I was able to fit 2 mats up there perfectly. When the grease from the food started to stand up on the mat, I simply picked it up and let the excess grease run on ground. I also used one of the mats in a pot that I used to boil spaghetti noodles to keep them from sticking to the bottom of the pot and I used one to ground my beef for the noodles to keep from scaring up the pan itself. I used one in the oven and put cookies on it. The material is all safe and it is nonstick so anyone can make a great meal. The mats are reusable which is an added bonus, you can continue to use them over and over again.

These mats are perfect for BBQ items that are known for falling through the grates on a grill or becoming charcoal before everything else is done cooking. They help keep the juices on meats so it doesn't dry out. It is true that you get less of that smoky grilled flavor, but if you keep the lid closed most of the time it helps impart the BBQ flavor. These are also amazing for camping and cooking on the fire. Many established campsites have the grates that can be raised or lowered over the flame in the firepit. These mats were a lifesaver for us. Just set a mat (or two) down on the grates and throw your food on. Skewers, hamburgers, even pancakes and eggs! Cooked right on your campfire. (though scrambled eggs may cause you some grief ;) ) The sky is the limit.
