My first one was very sharp and worked well for about a year but this one not so good. The blades rub when you start to use them causing them to not cut very well.

I've used these snips for years, I have so many other small scissors/snips, and I always go back to this one. That little hook on one blade is so useful to help grab the threads you want to snip, especially when that snip thread command comes up. use the hook to follow your thread down to the fabric, you can get very close so that the cut thread does not have any little tail poking up from the fabric.

These snips are an excellent choice for machine embroidery. I use these to cut my jump stitches and the hook makes for an ez method to trim close. I love these so much that I bought a spare pair.

These work OK, but not as sharp as I had hoped and the pointed end does not readily slip under the stitch. The spring handle gouges the palm of your hand while using. There must be better out there so keep looking.
