Excellent for tinned paté. Don't expect fresh, artisan paté and you'll find it delicious.
I question how well folks who have reviewed this poorly know paté. I have eaten plenty of paté and spent time in France. People have to realize this is tinned paté. This is what you keep in the pantry for the kids or yourself when you are bushed and don't want to bother to cook yourself a dinner. For that purpose, I find it to be excellent. It's a fairly course grind (as country paté should be. here are visible chunks of fate, pieces of vegetable, and pockets of fat (which is exactly as it should be IMHO. The flavor is mild, but has some complexity. The liver part of the flavor is mild (again, as it should be). If you are expecting a very fine force on the grind (like a mousse, this isn't the one you want). If you are expecting something that taste as magical as a fresh paté from your local French bakery or perhaps the deli of your Whole Foods, this isn't it. If you want a shelf stable paté you can leave in your pantry and break out after a long day or work with some pickles and olives a chunk of cheese and glass of red wine, and spend all of 5 minutes preparing it, this will totally scratch that itch. In my opinion, it will do so admirably. One can will deliver two fairly hearty servings or a single serving for a big appetite or serious hunger. I had mine with baguette, Maille mustard, and dressed a few toasts with truffled hot sauce. It was excellent. I will definitely replenish my cans when they are out, this one is a keeper. Can't wait to try it on a bahn-mi sandwich. I have also tried to Flower brand, which I found to be quite good too, however it is much more tight grind and much more like a mousse-style texture. I personally like course better.

Awful, fat separation. Disgusting, inedible.
Really old cans. Fat separation. Do not order. Mine are going in the trash. Tastes like cat food.

DELIVERY AND HANDLING MAY BE LACKING
The pate itself is quite good, may need a little extra salt and pepper, but definetely a good product with the typical texture and consistency of pate de campagne. Those who expect a soft, creamy pate, like chicken liver mouse will be dissapointed. Definetely a repeat. BTW - one of the 4 cans was delivered partially crushed. Unfortunately that seems to be a common Amazon issue with cans.

Modified corn starch
Just like the pork liver pate, they claim the ingredients are pork, stock, salt, spices, but they "forget" to mention there is also modified corn starch and sodium caseinate. I like the products and brand, but they are very misleading when listing the list of ingredients in all their products. Very disappointed, wouldn't have bought if I new there was modified corn starch in it

good quality product, but check can for damage
Did not have high expectations for a canned product, but it's very good. Excellent appearance, texture and taste. I wonder if the people writing negative reviews have ever had pate before. But, as noted by others, the bottom can in a pack of four was seriously dented. Packing for shipping was OK, so this must have happened prior.

Fatty with marbling
It has a light taste, I thought it was decent and very rich. The caloric density is good enough to take camping. about 2 small meals worth of serving per can.
