Most outstanding. Outshines every shave cream and soap.
I truly enjoy this Latoja product. If you use a badger or boars hair shave brush or if you want the product as a stand alone you can't go wrong. Though intended for shaving brushes, garbage cheap ones all the way up to premium badger hair ones, yer gonna get excellent results.Hey noobs, you don't need a rich thick lather to get a great shave. Shaving soaps and creams are meant to do several things.1. The primary purpose is laying down a slick film for the razor (of your choice) to gently glide over. Doubt me? Get in the shower, get yer beard as hot as you can, then jump out and try to shave with nothing.2. To emulsify the beard. It helps soften it up a little bit.The plus side is that you don't need shave cream that looks like you're foaming at the mouth. Just enough to coat yer skin so the razor glides. So don't go thinking you need to see mountains of foam to get a good shave because it just ain't so.If you want something strong scented then look elsewhere. But remember, yer gonna slap on aftershave and maybe a cologne latter. Why would you want to overlap yerself with different scents is beyond me.La Toja is shaving soap. It's slick and it's soap. It smells like soap but it's very mild so once you wash it off, the scent goes with it. Due to the excellent soap and the addition of sea salts you get a wholey clean face out of the experience. The sea salts won't sting while you are shaving. Once yer done shaving, clean and dry you'll feel fresh and yer skin will feel tight. It's a nice feeling. It's squeeky clean even the pores. There's no need to use after shaves with alcohol because you've pretty much accomplished their purpose with this La Toja.If yer like me and you don't like the sting of bracers (that's aftershave with lots of alcohol) then use an aftershave or post shave balm. They're meant to moisturize a recdondion the skin, calming it down drastically. For that I recommend something very mildly scented to unscented. Since unscented is nigh impossible find, I advise you to grab some Nivea post shave balm. I prefer the cooling one. The cooling is mild and yet dissapates shortly afterwards. I've tried several Nivea post shave balms and both of em, the scents are mild and go away in less than 10 minutes. Yer skin is absolutely wonderful in that time. It comes back to life. Now yer ready for yer favorite cologne. There are no overlapping scents to concern yerself with. Just the bliss of a nice cologne. The next best thing is Afta. But after you use it, try washing yer face 2 hours latter and something washes off. Actually that's because Afta doesn't fully absorb into the skin the way it should. Plus Afta is has a medium heavy scent that lingers a very long time. Not good if yer gonna put on cologne. Five to seven drops (yes I said drops) of Nivea is more than enough, it completely absorbs. Nothing goes to waste.

Good value
Easy to apply straight to your face with the stick, and then lather directly with fingers or brush - using a brush makes application faster and easier. Shave soap is much slicker than foam, so the razor glides much easier. Nice container for travel. The scent is mild and not unpleasant. 3 sticks for $12 makes this quite reasonable.

A Classic Shaving Soap Stick
I've been using this off and on for well over a decade. The formula did change somewhere along the line, but they still perform very well.If you are new to shaving sticks I recommend wetting your face with warm water, wetting the tip of the stick, and then putting way more soap on your face than you think you need. You then need to use a shaken out (not dripping wet) shaving brush to build your lather, adding small/tiny amounts of water as you go until you get a yogurt like consistency. These are also nice for traveling. At one point La Toja sold this soap in a wood jar with a cork top and also had a line of excellent shaving creams. I don't think they make that stuff anymore, but I would love to see some of it come back.Anyway, recommended.

How thick is your beard?
I used to use shaving soap with a brush. This is totally ridiculous. They should’ve made it in the cake for him to get any lather is a mess, but it is pretty soft.

Excellent Shaving Soap
For those who have never used a shaving soap, this works best with a shaving brush. I don't think that I would try to use it without a brush. This shaving stick soap works great! I wet my face with hot/warm water and the end of the stick as well then rub it on my face until I have a thin layer of soap. I then wet my shave brush and shake out the excess moisture and begin rubbing the damp brush on my face and watch as lather seems to explode out of nowhere. It is a very good lather, slick with lots of cushion. I wet the tips of my brush while lathering until I get the consistency and slickness that I am looking for. If you don't add enough water the lather will be thick and it will be difficult to remove the excess after shaving. I find a synthetic brush works best as it doesn't soak up lather like a badger or boar brush will. I have no problem getting enough lather for a 3 pass shave. This soap is one of my favorites and a great size for travel. I often find that the soap has separated from the plastic base during shipping. Just flip the soap upside when you first get it and place the plastic base on top of the foil and push down. You will feel the soap seat into the plastic base.

So so.
Has a very soapy scent which I don’t like and the plastic container it comes in is essentially worthless. Too bad they don’t have a twist up version.

A most excellent and versatile shaving soap
While I'm a big fan of the classic Proraso shaving soaps I've come to greatly appreciate this classic Spanish shaving stick. It's fantastic for travel but as a minimalist by nature I've come to prefer it for everyday use as well. You can simply rub it on and later it with your fingertips, or get an even better (as good as any traditional shaving soap or cream) lather using a shaving brush directly on your skin. The scent is subtle but pleasing and the mineral salts have a long-lasting beneficial effect on the skin with regular use. A single stick lasts for months.

Want a close shave? Use this stick!
Being a newcomer to shaving soap, I found this product to be very addicting. Since I hate to shave, I was skeptical on using this product. I'm here to tell you - It's ten times better than shaving cream!Just wet your face with warm water, swirl the soap stick around ( it won't lather like soap), and shave with your favorite, 3 or 5 blade razor!Using this shave soap is like a having one of those soap strips found on razors, every time you shave. Since using this shave soap, I've noticed that I get a close shave as opposed to use of shaving cream. I'm hooked on this shave soap.....
