The Waffen-SS (1): 1. to 5. Divisions

Informative, yet not quite there
Hello and welcome to another JBP review!I have had a long standing interest in World War II and the especially in the regiments fighting in this conflict. Naturally, the Waffen-SS, being an elite formation, favoured by Hitler for the most advanced equipment, training, men and general élan and corps spirit, is premiere in standing. The Osprey book on the 1. to 5. Waffen-SS divisions provides a nice overview from their respective foundings, training, baptism of fire and service, without delving into details about why, where and how, which would require far more space than is available. The colour plates are generally interesting, and if you happen to be a wargamer (playing games such as Flames of War or the like), then these will be more than passingly interesting. However, for the feinschmecker out there, this product will probably be unsatisfactory. For the new inductee or for school reports, this product will do nicely, and provide a nice, general overview of these particular divisions.Kind regards,JBP

Both author and illustrator have done better work.
No complaints on the seller, I received the book within 24 hours, but the book is disappointing. Both author and illustrator have done better work.
