Poorly executed - but function in the long run
I purchased this suspecting it was using older USB v1.1 technology ... which it is. But for the price, slow transfers are OK!The device was unable to complete a long transfer on a single set of brand new energizer batteries. I ended up soldering in a USB connector to the battery terminals. When connected to a small USB portable battery - the product worked fairly well. I can still use batteries if needed, but never plan to. I was able to successfully transfer about 30GB in my tests before declaring the product safe for my pictures and videos! This is the same basic product that Macally is selling. But the Macally product *may* be using USB v2.The bad ... Transfers are VERY SLOW!!!! USB v1.1 tops out at 12Mbps. Transferring several gigabytes at 12Mbps takes a long time. EXTREMELY power hungry. Using AAA for this product was a poor design decision! A set of 3 batteries per transfer wasn't working for me. Somewhat unreliable transfers. The good ... Small size. Very light! Fairly reliable transfers. Once I changed the power source from battery to USB connection - worked much better.

works for me
just tried this with a kingston 4gb datatraveler flash drive as the "target" drive, and a sandisk SD card reader as the "source". Took 40 minutes to copy 2gb of pictures from the SD card reader, but it worked great. Needs AAA batteries, not sure how many syncs they'll last for.Minus two stars for the lack of a progress bar, battery meter, power cord option, or a recognizable brand (which probably means it will die soon).definitely worth a try for $20...could potentially be a very cheap camera card backup solution.
