Can this cabinet sit untop of the countertop and what does the back look like??

The back doesn’t look very good, but the front looks really nice. You could set it on the countertop, but I would still anchor it.

Can anyone or company rep comment in the reviews of bad odor?

Oder you are concerned about is that of paint. That smell should disappear over time. My big problem is that the cabinets are wobbly. They are attractive. I am using as free standing cabinets for now. I have two. Mine will need to be modified with L brackets as soon as I get the chance. For the most part I am disappointed in the quality. The company did call me and email me from CHINA. That was impressive in and of itself. They did discount a wee bit of the original purchase price. That will pay for the time and cost to modify.

can these be painted ?

I would say yes.......spray paint would make it look new and painting it with a brush would make it look somewhat vintage....

In using on floor one customer said: but I suggest putting 4 in kicker platform under cabinet. What does that mean?

It means don't set the cabinet directly onto the floor. It can get damaged if your feet accidentally kick it. A kick stop, kick platform, kick plate, toe kick (they all mean the same thing) will lift the cabinet and protect it from damage. Your kitchen base cupboards have 3 or 4 inch toe kicks under them....keeps your feet from trashing the doors.
