I bought this for class but it stops too soon for Mr to help kids see what's happening. It only lasted a few seconds. It isn't as bouncy as the one my niece bought at the museum store. I had to record it on slow motion video tohave enough time to show the pushing, rising, and falling.

I've always thought these were the neatest things so I ordered 2- one for each child. Take my advice... spend a little more money and get a good one! Cheap plastic base and it only takes about 5 minutes for the balls to end up in a tangled mess. You get what you pay for... Do not recommend!

I had purchased this as a gift for my 9 year old son. He specially requested a Newton's Cradle for Christmas. I didn't want to spend too much money on it, but you definitely get what you pay for. If you want something nice, don't waste your time buying this one. It is made of plastic and the strings can get tangled easily. I had to return it and was disappointed that I couldn't find a better one in our price range.

It broke in my hand before we ever got it to work! I bought this as a gift for my child's birthday. Super disappointing. It's cheap plastic (not metal). Even if we had got it to work, it does not really demonstrate "perpetual motion" of anything, because it requires batteries to do...whatever it was supposed to do? It doesn't seem to be able to rotate (w/o breaking). One small piece is magnetic and I am guessing the base has a small magnet? We never had a chance to try it out! This is a decorative item only. I gave it another star because it was shipped quickly and the pictures are accurate. It is pretty. Just be sure to read the detailed description carefully and don't expect to actually be able to play with it.

This takes four batteries and there is no on or off switch, so it will probably drain the batteries. I put the batteries in and started it swinging by hand. It stops after about 15 to 20 seconds. It is made entirely of plastic. It is shiny and has pretty colors, and that is about the only positive.Update - Ok, I gave it another chance and I think the batteries were not making a good connection. Kind of pushed on the base and it kept going for quite a long time. I will up my rating a little.

It is cheap, well you saw the price! However, for the price you pay it is a good deal. I had multiple middle school students using it and a few toddlers who got it in a fair knot. I untangled it and it continues to work just fine. Easy and compact.

I needed 6 Newton's Cradles for an elementary energy transfer activity. So, I was looking for something that would be inexpensive, but work well. This definitely met my expectations. The packaging prevented tangling and I was able to reuse it to repack them for storage.

Looks sweet and works pretty well. I wish the balls bounced for longer though, feel as if its not quite "right" in the mechanics/balance as the motion doesn't last long enough to be "impressive". Overall pleased though.
