Handy Switch
I really like tasmota devices for the timer functions since they can be set to toggle at dusk and dawn. I used this one for our front porch light after the light sensor went out because it was cheaper than a new light sensor. Keep in mind, if you use the timer, you will need to sync the timezone and the longitude and latitude for the timers using the console. Here's the commands I typed one lime at a time into the console (I rounded, but you can be more exact):Timezone -8Latitude 36Longitude -119I also installed a Sonoff R3 dual flashed with Tasmota in our barn because my family has a habit of leaving the lights on. While it was handy to pull up the web page to turn them off remotely, I realized I could use this switch for my front porch to send out commands to the barn. So 1 click will turn on the front porch lights, a long press will toggle the barn lights and a double click will turn both barn lights off. Now we dont need to pull up the tasmota page to turn on the lights and can do so as we walk out of the front door. While I have MQTT and Home Assistant set up on a NanoPi router, this I set the rule up to work without them.First set the switchmode to monitor longpress and multi press in the console:Switchmode1 5Then submit the rule, use your own IP for the alternate device and paste it into the console as one long line:Rule1 on button1#state=3 do Backlog Power TOGGLE;Delay 1;Power TOGGLE;WebSend [192.168.###.###] Power0 TOGGLE endon ON button1#state=11 do Backlog Power TOGGLE;Delay 1;Power TOGGLE;WebSend [192.168.###.###] Power0 OFF endonThis rule will cycle the front porch light on and off as a confirmation and then send a toggle command to both switchs of sonoff dual r3 in the barn. The second part (double click) is if only one of the switches in the barn is activated, we have an option that turns both off no matter the switch state.A few other notes, I have trust issues with these devices, so I immediately flashed with vanilla Tasmota firmware. As others have noted, you need to flash with a minimal firmware version first in order to upgrade to the full version. The biggest pros of Tasmota devices is that they don't send data outside your network (unless you really want them to) and they work great as standalone timers. The switch is designed for clicking on the bottom of the rocker panel, but here in USA, up means on. So I installed the switch upside down.

Turns the light on and off just like it should.
I was worried about this light switch but wanted to give it a try. I've tried so many other home automation productions that were poorly manufactured and barely worked. This switch seems to work fine.Easy to press button to switch the light off and on. Easy to understand installation instructions, if you have basic electrical knowledge. If you don't have a basic understanding of how to wire switches without getting killed then don't try to install this yourself.Remote controlling the switch is easy to do as well. You can simply use a web browser or one of many home automation programs. I wrote my own software which also easy to do with this switch. The setup can be tricky but I found a good video showing how to set up EZhome products which are the same thing. Google for good setup videos.

Good quality unit
This Tasmota pre-flashed unit works out of the box with no internet connectivity requirements. You will need a wifi network with DHCP, but that's it. I disassembled the unit and the build quality was good, it appears to be on-par with other name-brand in-wall modules I've bought at the local home center. The main switch is a proper microswitch, not a cheap PCB pushbutton, so it should last. The tactile feel is very different from a regular switch, though, so be advised. More like clicking a mouse than toggling a switch. The Tasmota firmware supports a timer mode so this is a no-brainer replacement upgrade for in-wall timers. I recommend and am glad this company is making them.It does need a unswitched power feed with a neutral wire. Design requirement, no way around it. The one point I didn't like is the mounting ears are plastic, with the cover screws threading into plastic. It didn't seem to be an issue on install into a properly leveled box, though, the screws tightened okay and the switch was solid. This is a fairly large unit, it will need a box with plenty of room. This company also makes a SS-01 model which is functionally the same but a smaller form factor. Unless you have boxes with a lot of empty space I'd check out that one.

unlocked ESP8266, fairly easy to flash with latest Tasmota
Comes with Tasmota preinstalled, but was an older version. You can update to the latest Tasmota, but you need to install the minimal image first due to flash constraints. Otherwise, works great. My only issue is that mounting is a little odd. It comes with domed screws that won't work with any existing face plates. So don't lose your original screws. I'm not even sure they work with the plate it comes with. But the included plate snaps off easily enough and you're good to go.

Easy setup and connection with home assistant!
I bought these solely for the absence of having to flash tasmota onto them. I have everything to do so but this definitely saved a ton of time and the abundance of features tasmota allowed you to customize with them is super nice. I still have an extra but they are a nice touch and you can connect them together wirelessly for uses like 3(or more) way switches as well as being able to use multi press options for toggling other lights wirelessly as well. Not to mention you can just default the settings within them to make them work as a standard on/off switch with a modern look! Plus the option to turn on a red light while off makes them easily visible at night without being blindingly bright.
