Christen Brown has created an incredibly instructive book on ribbon work which may also be used for ribbon embroidery and just about anything else you wish to do with ribbon!I have almost every single book written on ribbon embroidery and on doing anything and everything with ribbon by all of the most popular and well-known artists in the field-also by some unknowns. CHRISTEN BROWN'S BOOK BLEW ME AWAY!She does not hold back on any information on how to actually make the creations she pictures in her book-unlike many authors. SHE IS A TEACHER, who wants you to learn to do what she does, to the best of your ability.Most books on the subject have a couple examples of leaves - HER BOOK HAS OVER 30 and they are all GORGEOUS!If you are a person who does not easily learn from the written word, have no fear, this is one book you will really use and enjoy. Her instructions are clear and she maps out every step. Run don't walk to get this book. You will love it.Thank you Christen. This book will change people's lives, you can count on it. I have done ribbon embroidery for a long time and have a fair number of ribbonwork books, but this is one of the best that I own. I purchased this book for my Kindle Fire and it is excellent. The photos enlarge nicely (double tap the photo with your finger to enlarge), and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. This book has more patterns techniques than any of the other books and I own, and there are flower techniques that I had seen completed but never knew the trick to making them. The book is divided into chapters of flower styles - modern, vintage, grandma's garden, etc. This is helpful and helps you group your work into compatible flower styles to achieve the feel you are creating in your work. It guides you on detailed supplies needed, color, and assembly instructions. From start to finish, this book is excellent.There are a number of ribbonwork books on the market, but I would say that this is simply the best, and the one I return to time and again for technique and inspiration.

I was expecting a book on ribbon embroidery and as such, Ribbonwork Gardens was a disappointment, but only in its failure to address ribbon embroidery at all. As a ribbonwork manual, the art of manipulating ribbon to make leaves, flowers and insects as free-standing units that are then applied to other fabric and fibers it is an excellent source manual.The directions are clear and concise and well photographed and the measurements are done in ribbonwidths for both width and length of ribbon making the designs translatable to any width or ribbon that you have on hand. Materials are well reviewed and the flowers are gorgeous. These techniques could be used on their own or combined with other embroidery and fiber arts for a stunning collage and mix of techniques. A great addition to ribbonwork technique and instruction.

I do not write many reviews unless its about mediocre or less merchandise. Just not enough hours to review on all of the expected good things. I always figure no news is good news??? So when I get a really good product that I just love I have to share it!I liked this book, its technically challenging and I am kind of a geek. If I have something well written or given instructions I can usually master it in time. Don't get me wrong I had to read and re-read a few times at first but it was quick. In one day I had half a hoop full of really nice flowers and leaves. What an awesome start for someone who hasn't pulled a needle in 20 years. I got the blood to prove it! LOL Hey I'm a pretty smart lady right now. Anyway. I also think that I am rusty and for most of you, you will get it the first time. While your waiting for your copy to come by mail practice your stitches. Get your fingers used to being stuck if your rusty like me. But don't be afraid to try this cool art! If you've never picked up a needle you could probably do this beautifully! I'm going to incorporate small pieces of this art into my love of jewelry and wire wrapping. I have recently taken up Bead Embroidery. I think with taste delicate beads and some beautiful fabric with amazing stones might look pretty cool.I found the book to be an easy read. Pretty concise too. The pictures are OK I would replace them with some really good digital photos. Seeing the whole thing is key. But they did ok. I learn a lot from instructors on dvd, seminars and classes. I prefer live instruction.So bravo to the author you did an excellent job. I may look you up on Facebook sometime :)Ok enough out of me. GET THIS BOOK! I am going to buy a hard copy when I can just for the pictures.I have to be critical of a couple of things though and I don't think its the books fault. My kindle did not display the fine fractions on the screen very clearly but I have a small screen. The constant back and forth between references is tough at first, but you dont need to look after a while.Adios!

The book is full of so many flowers to create which gave me much excitement. I found sometimes some of the instructions a little unclear but the photos helped as I am more of a visual learner and my brain is a bit foggy as I am getting older. But Christen has created a garden of flowers that is going to be challenging and exciting to create very pleased. I will have to read through it more thoroughly particularly about measurements. Love it recommend highly.

This is a book that I will refer back to again and again. Great step by step instructions on how to create each flower including measurements for different widths of ribbon. Lots of different flowers to make. A visual feast. I love it! There are lots of books on ribbon embroidery but very few on ribbonwork.

Now I know how to create beautiful ribbon flowers. I found this book easy to follow and I enjoy working from it.

This must be one of the most comprehensive source books about. Anyone interested in ribbon work (and many just interested in floral decoration) can use this book fruitfully. I would not be without my copy!
