Indoor/outdoor cat roaming solution!
Iâve searched high and low and have spent hundreds of dollars trying to find a solution to our male Tabby named Woody who loves to visit our neighborâs indoor cat who lays in her bed right in front of their sliding glass doors on their back deck. My cat is very friendly and thinks they are friends... quite the opposite, really. We had animal control called on us innumerable times last year. I gave them my phone number to text me if he wandered down there which felt like a big mistake with the very harsh messages we received constantly for the last year and a half. I bought the scat mat cat repellant pads with the plastic stick ups... he walked all over them with ease. Sprays, etc etc... nothing has worked until this PetSafe Pawz Away Barrier.I will say this: I initially thought it didnât work because we set it all up and put the collar on him and turned the radius all the way up to supposedly 16 feet. It was more like 6-8 feet... collar beeped and was buzzing him but he was just looking at the rock and then back at us, completely unaffected. I had read another review saying he had to shave a little of his neck hair around the area of the cat where the collar makes contact with it... this was the answer! We shaved a small area under his collar. As soon as I heard the first warning beep, he shot into the other room like a rocket. He hid under my bed for 30 min. Worried that it was too intense. I took it off of him and tested it on myself... I would call it âhighly unpleasantâ and definitely the feeling of being shocked but nothing cruel. We are at the point that he would have to be rehomed if we didnât invest in something to keep him from our neighbors, so we are very happy that this is working. I believe that if an animal wants to be an indoor/outdoor animal, they should be allowed that. He has spent the last 3 days mostly outside instead of me having to barricade him inside while he meows all day, begging to go out but worrying he will upset the neighbors. He is back to his happy indoor/outdoor kitty life and we are finally at peace in our home and also with the neighbors. ( we placed the rock on their back deck ) I shaved about an inch and a quarter area all around his neck where his Seresto collar and the PetSafe collar sit. This is working for us and I hope it works for you, too!

This plastic rock left us down.
Does not work, we read all the poor reviews and thought we would take a chance and try it any how since it was a very small area we wanted it for, we thought maybe it would work. Our dog cared less and did her normal thing of jumping up at our gate. We moved it several times and still no luck. She actually thought it was a toy and tried playing with it. We returned it immediately. Definitely don't recommend this.

Works fantastically for my stubborn dog who was already trained on an electric fence system
I don't know how well it would have worked if my dog hadn't already been trained that a high beep means you're about to get shocked and you should back away, just back away. But for my extremely stubborn Great Dane, this rock has been a godsend. We already had the YardMax system to surround about 3 acres of "yard," and it works perfectly on the setting where it continues to shock her no matter what distance the dog goes beyond the boundary (up to 15 seconds). She has learned that when she hears the beep, she's come too close to the boundary, and she just turns around. However, she couldn't keep herself out of the chicken run, because the compost pile is inside. I keep the chicken door open in good weather so they can free range outside their run, and my Great Dane could make herself really tiny and squeeze through the hole (about 18" x 24")! That was one determined dog, especially when I put something delicious on the compost pile!Enter the "rock." I set it for a range of about a 6' radius, and placed the rock right by the door to the chicken run. The next time she came towards the door, nose in the air, hoping to go in and snarf some goodies, she heard the beep beep beep of the collar (same collar works with both systems, so it's the same beep!), and she stopped dead in her tracks and turned around. Now she gives the chicken door a wide berth and just jealously watches the chickens dig through the compost pile.Don't worry, she gets lots of treats of her own!I've had this rock for over a month, and haven't had a battery issue so far. Still on the original batteries I installed (and I bought more in bulk from Amazon). Now I'm going to buy another one and attach wire to it to keep the dog out of the new pond my husband just dug by our front door. I want the field to go around the pond but not keep her away from the door, so I'll loop in the pond and put the setting at the lowest so there won't be very much area around the pond that she'll be kept out of.Couldn't be happier with this rock, for my purposes with my dog.
