This is truly wonderful stuff. The flavor is very subtle. I have a more sensitive pallet than most people and it's hard for me to define it. Some people say it's "smokey" but I'm not really getting that, maybe a slight mineral taste of some kind. But anyway, the big thing is how you can see it against light colored foods foods such as eggs, potatoes, etc. You can see exactly how much salt you're applying for very precise seasoning... and it's not quite as salty as regular salt. It's a great option to have on your table. You have to look, but it's more "black" than ground pepper... if you look at it you won't mistake it for pepper. I love it!

To be honest. Though I could have purchased this for cooking, I bought because of laziness in making my normal black salt, but I may try to cook with too. It smells quite nice.

A little bit goes such a long way. We use this in a rechargeable grinder so very sparingly because the flavor is so potent and tastes incredible. I really like the resealable bag to keep the rest fresh until we need it again. I'm happy the bag is thicker and the seal means business because it didn't spill when I accidentally dropped it out of the cabinet. I was so relieved that it didn't pop open so there was no mess. Yay! I'm sure I'll be back to buy more since we can't find this in our area. Super yum!

Want the rotten egg smell, you have got it. Great for vegans in tofu if they miss their animal products.

My first experience with this salt was a larger granule from Mountain Rose Herbs. It was a little too big. I thought I would try this and I really like it. It may be slightly flavorful than MRH but still very good, especially for the price. If you're the type of person who appreciates gourmet spices, you'll like it. I use this and freshly ground white pepper as my main seasoning for everyday dishes.

Good flavor

You would think that salt, even though it’s black and from Hawaii, would be, well, just salt. But it’s not. The taste is more intense and adds greater flavor to foods. Another benefit is that I can SEE how much salt I am actually using. White salt just blends in the food. Definitely a fav in our household.

I like the flavor ….some thing to keep in the kitchen!
