Saves time and material
Works great for my shotgun. I love using jags as they seem to remove more fouling per pass with their tighter fit. Additionally I can use smaller patches which helps stretch my cleaning materials further, especially with 12 GA.

Top quality aluminum jag
The 25cal/6.5mm works great with my 6.5 creedmoor with 1.5” circular flannel patches. Higher quality aluminum jag then I expected from Amazon’s pic.

My Favorite cleaning Jags.
Over the years, I have bought different brands of cleaning jags. These Pro-Shot Jags with the "SPEAR Tip" are always the ones that I reach for -- the Spear Tip makes it easier for me to impale the cleaning Patch onto the jag, & it has a better chance of NOT falling off before I can get it where I want it.BTW -- I also use Pro-Shot PATCHES, & they work well, too. I find that they are a little thinner than Butch's Patches, & sometimes that is what is needed to fit the bore precisely. I like to fit the patch very tightly to the bore, & I'll usually start out using a few Pro-Shot patches. After some of the fouling has been removed, I find that the thicker Butch's patches will then usually go in, providing a VERY tight fit.

The 12 gauge jag has a tight fit IF you apply the cleaning patch correctly.
At first glance it appears the jag is to small for a 12 gauge bore. There is a lot of room in the barrel around the jag making it appear to be a better fit for a 16 gauge than a 12 gauge. This perception is false. Draping a 3" patch over the jag results in a lot of slack inside the barrel. Used this way the jag is loose as a goose. You can not just drape the patch over the jag if you want it to work well. The problem of extra play is based solely on how you place the patch on the jag. Do NOT drape a single layer patch over the jag and expect a tight fit. That will NOT happen. People applying the patch incorrectly has resulted in reviews that improperly claim the 12 gauge jag is undersized. It is the correct size when the patch is folded prior to use.The patch has to be folded in half then folded in half again. This results is a nice tight and yes, thicker square patch about 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". When this twice folded patch is pushed through the bore on the jag the result is a tight bore fit. By folding the patch into a smaller square the patch becomes thicker which fills the bore as expected. The end result is a tight fit. The patch holds onto the jag forward and backwards in the barrel. The downside of using a jag after having already cleaned your barrel with a normal loop and patch is the jag removes a lot more dirt from the barrel. The barrel you thought was clean before using a jag will be proven to still be dirty after using the jag as a follow up cleaning tool. You may need to use more patches but you will end up with a truly clean barrel.I recommend getting one of these as the price is fair, it is USA made (a HUGE plus), and it cleans much better than a loop ever will. This part is for a shotgun. It does require a shotgun rod or an adapter to use the normal size cleaning rods. If you do not have an adapter or a shotgun rod with the larger thread buy one when you get this."Pro Shot shotgun jags have a No. 5/16-27 thread, and can be used on a rifle rod with a shotgun adapter"To use this jag on a smaller rifle cleaning rod you will need something like this:https://www.amazon.com/Breakthrough-Clean-Technologies-Shotgun-Adapter/dp/B074N91Z3Q/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=shotgun+adapter&qid=1574456551&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-3or you can buy a purpose made shotgun rod like this:https://www.amazon.com/Shotgun-Cleaning-Universal-Standard-Thrreads/dp/B06XPLGL5K/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=shotgun+adapter&qid=1574456551&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-11The only possible downside is this jag being made of brass may react to your cleaner resulting in a false positive for copper fouling. The proper paint being applied would protect the brass from being affected by cleaning solvents. Brass being stronger than plastic makes this a great choice.P.S. If you have a full choke shotgun I do not know how this will fit.

It does the job
It's a pretty good jag for cleaning 12 ga shotgun barrels. Could have been a little thicker, though, especially with today's non-cotton, ultra thin cleaning pads. I have to fold those pads at least to six layers to get enough traction. The tip is not as sharp a needle as those rifle jags. So it's pretty hard to pierce through those non-cotton pads.

Yes you need Jags and Patch loops, and these are super nice
You could get by with one or the other, but if you do a lot of cleaning then setup a rod with each and make your life a lot easierI have switched out all my cleaning bits to Pro-Shot because they are by far the best, plus they are competitively priced. These are by far the best bits on the market and I don’t even look at other brands now.

Best Jag I've Found To Date.
I much prefer this Pro-Shot jag to the usual type of plastic or brass jag which have a slot to attach a piece of rag. I use this Pro-Shot jag with the round pads used to remove face and eye make up. They are cheap as chips for a pack of 100 and work really well at cleaning and polishing your shotgun barrels. The spike on the Pro-Shot jag secures the pad in place and the grooves stop the pad from coming off the jag inside the barrel. So, you can draw it back and forwards inside the shotgun barrels. As long as you don't push the jag out of the end of the barrel the pad stays put. Perfect results every time.
