Where have these been all my life?
These are great for trailer light wiring where you need a waterproof joint, durable hold and a soldered connection. These connectors are simple: 1.) strip the two wire ends, 2.) choose the appropriate size butt connector tube and slide it onto one end of the wire to be joined 3.) Twist the two exposed copper wires together but make it thin enough for the butt connector to slide over as it needs to be as tight as possible. 4.) heat the butt connector. There are four things that happen: The plastic tube shrinks against the wire, the two red collars melt forming an additional waterproof barrier and it holds the wires in place and lastly, the solder collar melts. Super impressed.

Don't blame the product for user error
The media could not be loaded. I think the reviews complaining about these connectors are not using them correctly. They worked perfect for me.They have a strong hold better than crimping, an airtight seal, and if you use the proper size for the wire you're working with they shrink to a glove tight snug. I've had zero problems with connectivity on any of my projects. These are not regular heat shrink tubes. You can't use a lighter or a torch. A lighter won't melt the solder, and a torch will melt the tubing and your wire before it melts the solder.I used a heat gun I got off of Amazon for $20. It has two heat settings, and a reflector on it so the entire tube was heatedly evenly in seconds. Spend just a few extra seconds around the solder ring.Don't immediately try to pull on the connection. Of course it's going to come apart while it's still curing. These are made to withstand shaking and movement, not heavy weight pulling. No one is going to come and tug on your wires to pull them apart. All that aside, I absolutely recommend these shrink tubes to anyone who's doing at least minor automotive electrical wiring. I installed a dash cam, aftermarket radio, and rear view cam into my car using these and they have held up perfect.Short of it is, don't blame the product for human error.

Work well but have one flaw that may be important
Purchased this assorted size set mainly for installing car stereos and speakers. I've used them on four vehicles so far and they work well. The solder melts easily using my Porter Cable 1500 watt heat gun set on low speed with the temperature at about 75%. I like that the connectors are clear as I'm able to see the solder melt. Unlike crimp connectors, these are still flexible after heating and remain so when they cool. Overall I'm happy with these and have ordered more of the red connectors as they are the ones I used most often. The one issue is as others have stated. One end of each connector is slightly smaller than the other. I have been able to use them so far on OEM automotive wiring but your mileage may vary. As each color connector covers a range of sizes, you may be able to move up to the next size if the smaller one won't fit over the wire. For example: I used the red connectors for 18 gauge OEM speaker wire and they worked well. One set of aftermarket speakers came with 18 gauge that was thicker and would not fit into one end so I used the green connectors, again they worked well. I hope you find this useful.

Easier than I thought it would be
I bought these because I never have any luck with the kind you crimp. I don't have enough hand strength for that. These were easy. Make sure the butt ends are meshing with each other put the solder part over the junction of the two wires and use the heat gun to shrink the plastic wrapper around the wrappers. Kind of takes a little long than crimping but works for me.

Didn't work for me...
I'm very familiar with this type of connectors and like them a lot. When they perform as they should. The center solder didn't melt as it should using a heat gun. I had to use a torch to get it to melt but that of course melted the heat shrink to the point that it was useless. Not just one connector but I tried several. Had to go back to my crimp type connectors to finish the job.
