One of the best value Lego sets I've bought. So much more accurate than its ugly big brother.
The media could not be loaded. This is one of those times I've sat staring at the screen contemplating a four or a five star rating. It's a 4.5, but I've rounded it up because when I haven't been staring at my screen I've been staring at the lovely little DB5 sat beside me. It's really made me smile. And I don't understand why. Not why this is such a great little model, but how Lego have managed to do such a much finer job of reproducing one of the most iconic cars ever built in a small scale after they made a complete dogs dinner of the larger scale Creator version a few years ago. What went wrong back then? Oh my, I remember the teaser trailer for it on social media. I nearly lost my mind in anticiaption of that. I'm a nerd-level James Bond fan, and the Aston Martin DB5 is such a stunning piece of automotive art I was fizzing with excitement at the prospect of owning a Lego version. And then I saw it. Have you ever seen the episode of The Simpsons when they unveil "The Homer" to huge fanfare, and everyone realises what an awful creation has appeared in front of them? It was that. I was so disappointed. But roll on a few years and they've tried again. This time, they've chosen their Speed Champs range, a range that has massively improved this year since they increased the scale by a couple of bricks. They've since churned out some superb little models, my personal highlight being the Lamborghini Countach. Until now, because the DB5 is fabulous.Let's get it out of the way now, despite it being the James Bond 007 DB5, it has no trick optional extras fitted by Q-Branch. No revolving number plates or machine guns, or even an ejector seat. This might be a disappointment to some, and I'll admit to thinking that it was poorer for that. You do get five different number plates though to choose from, but you have to manually change them yourselves. There are also a lot of stickers. Granted, 10 of those were the number plates, but there are quite a few others. Most of them are clear stickers with a badge or a door handle, which means that in particular light they show as a slightly different colour to the rest of the car.And on that subject, the roof stands out a little. While the top of the roof is the same colour as the bodywork, the rear screen is quite a noticably different shade of grey and it really stands out. For those reasons, the lack of gadgets, stickers and the colour differences, I was going to give it four stars. But, then I thought a bit more about it. I paid £18 for this on release day. I think they were price matching a competitor at the time, so I think I got a good price. The RRP seems to be £20 looking at the usual rival outlets, including LEGO themselves. Is that good value, at either price?Absolutely. I said to my wife before I started that I'd expect it to take about 30 minutes. As you'll be able to see from my attached video, it was actually 45 minutes. I'm quite a quick builder and I don't much around. I just get my head down and build the thing so I can enjoy the finished model. So I was surprised that the two bags of bricks took me as long as it did. I thought back to other Lego models I've made and believe this to be one of the best value £/per brick sets I've had. And, because of that, and because the finished model looks so good (not withstanding the multi-colour roof), my score was creeping up.But the icing on the cake is the mini figure. Bond. James Bond. He just nudged it up to a five star purchase.

Great buy for a James Bond obsessed partner
Got this for a Christmas present for my partner and he loved it. He put it together quite quickly. It’s a great size to put on a shelf and display once you’ve finished. Good quality.
