Fine Tatami Mat but very firm
It is kind of hard, so be aware that most people would find it too hard to sleep on since it would be harder than just a carpeted floor alone. It comes with a nice carrying case and folds out nicely. It has a natural smell to it which isn't bad, and not really irritating, so not a problem. Each panel is a few inches thick, so be aware of that when laying it out or when storing. Overall, good but very firm.

I love it. Enjoy it every day.
I love it. For some people it may be too firm. But it is tatami.

Very very hard
This mat is very designed very well it fold up nice and evenly and even has a great carrying case for it. It has quite the strong smell to it which is a little overpowering and I'm hoping over time will air out slightly. Its also very very firm which I understand that is the purpose but not exactly beneficial to me at this time.

Mixed feeling
I have real tatami mats at home, so I know what to expect, and the Mustmat tatami mat really comes close. The thickness, the look, and the fabric edging all match pretty well. The big difference is that it’s foldable and easy to tuck away when not in use, plus it’s much lighter than traditional tatami mats. That said, it’s not perfect. First, the price is pretty high compared to other options on Amazon, which makes me wonder if it’s actually a better quality mat or not. There was even a small glue spot on mine. Also, the smell is pretty strong at first, so I had to let it air out in the garage for a while. But overall, if you love the look of tatami and don’t mind spending a little extra, it could be worth it.

Worthless mat, don't buy
This mat does not have any cushion. If you use it to sleep, please be aware that it will be like sleeping on a floor. The core of the mat is an XPS board that will not compress. It cannot be used as a Yoga mat because it is 1.8 inches thick.

Took a few nights to get used to the firmness, personally I enjoy the earthy smell and I sleep like a rock nightly.

Requires a Softer Mattress Topper
LOVE the fact that this modern-day tatami's foldable: since storage space is always at a premium here in the big city, I simply couldn't have this in our home if it couldn't fold up! Aside from that, the authentic look and feel of these all-natural/traditional materials is quite pleasing to the senses and goes a long way towards inducting one into a more peaceful, almost ceremonial use of space in our east-meets-west home.It is important to note, however, that while this helps define and elevate the space, we're ONLY using this in conjunction with a super softening mattress topper, which requires a bit of extra storage space we can ill afford here in the big city!
