A necessary read for all homeschoolers
I’ve been homeschooling for 12 years and following the Charlotte Mason method for 6 of those years.I honestly didn’t expect to get that much out of this book because, frankly, I thought that I was pretty informed about the subject. I’ve read other homeschooling books that are aimed more exclusively towards beginning homeschoolers, and I assumed this would be the same. How wrong I was! Yes, this book is absolutely indispensable for new homeschoolers, but it also contained so much day to day practical wisdom that will help even the most experienced homeschoolers. Many of us understand the why of CM, but the how can be a bit trickier. This book willl help you implement CM principles in your home and will especially help you embrace the parts of the “feast” that you may have set aside because they seemed too complicated.Leah explains everything so well and so kindly that you’ll leave feeling perfectly equipped to tackle those educational mountains.A must buy

Great
So I tried reading this book last year, and I struggled. Then I tried again and loved it so much I bought the book so I could highlight and keep the nuggets. She does a great job of relating CM principles for a modern audience and without it being an extremely long book.I will say this book is so encouraging with tucked nuggets to replicate in our own homeschools. Then afterwards join the Collective.

It's a good one.
First, the audio book is wonderful.Second, this book is a top recommendation I give to others.Third, Lead Boden leads a Substack group that really goes deep into Charlotte Mason.Forth, homeschooling is intimidating and what you find about Charlotte Mason online is overwhelming, so much so I completely disregarded it for 5 years. Leah takes a huge and important educational philosophy and gives us an entry point into understanding and to be inspired at what Home education could look like.

Charlotte Mason for the Modern Mom
Leah has taken her extensive knowledge of the beloved work of Charlotte Mason and in this book shows us how to be practitioners of the philosophy in our modern world. Modern Miss Mason is both approachable and practical for homeschoolers in any stage of home education.

The new entry-level book to Charlotte Mason’s ideas
I’ve long been connected with Leah online as she always shares easy to implement practices that align with Miss Mason’s methods. This book is the perfect sunny day picnic read. Grab it and take the kids to the park or the creek. Read and enjoy learning about the ways Miss Mason’s methods can bring beauty, goodness, and truth into your life and the lives of your children. True to Leah’s personality, this book is witty, personable, and filled with nuggets of truth. If you’ve ever wanted an introduction course on Miss Mason’s educational philosophy, this is it! It’s my new recommendation when someone isn’t ready to tackle Miss Mason’s volumes just yet.

Encouragement for the intimidated!
The Modern Miss Mason gave me hope…that I could actually implement the CM philosophy despite my imperfect understanding and ability to “Do it all.” I’ve referred back to it often when I feel stuck or overwhelmed and she provides a simple next right step to help me keep going!

Apologetically “Christian”
I will start off by saying that this book was pretty good. It is an easy ready and gives enough information or thoughts that keep you reading until the end.My biggest gripe is that this book is in the Christian category and reading the description and authors background I thought for sure there would be a Christian theme throughout. Especially since Charlotte was a Christian and her foundation for understanding children and education is routed in the truths she knew to be true i.e. all people are born persons. That assumption is based on the understanding that all humans are created by God in His image as the Bible teaches (imago dei is not a “god spark” as the author has stated). The author of this book has seemingly tried to strip Christianity from the Charlotte mason method in order to make it accessible to all and in doing so has created a new method of her own. Every time she mentions the fact that she is a “Christian” or that Charlotte was she does so while seemingly apologizing for it and says repeatedly that you can have no faith or a different faith and it doesn’t matter this method can be for you too. Yes. You can use the method and it will work but that is because it is rooted in truth and that truth never changes and is a firm solid foundation to build anything on whether you believe it or not.Not what I would be looking for in a Christian homeschooling book from a professing Christian author about another Christian who developed a method of education rooted in that Christian faith. If you are a secular homeschooler interested in CM you will probably love this but for a fellow Christian I would just pass on this one.

Great read for anyone who is taking care of children.
I LOVE this book. It's concise and to the point, but its also highly informative and interesting. Reading about Leah's journey was super inspiring and insightful into the lives of our children. As someone who doesn't have any children, but takes care of children, it was a perfect read. I don't want to give too much away, but if you are considering homeschooling, or want to give your children back their childhood, READ THIS. I have never taken some many notes from a book, in a very long time. I will be rereading this book over and over.
