Product description CD .com Now that Beck has effectively exorcised his personal demons with 2002's hyperconfessional Sea Change, he can get back to the business of being a total fruit loop. We all know what that involves: videogame sound effects, random shouting in Spanish, and rhymes about popsicles and vegetable vans. And that's just the second track. Guero is like every Beck album condensed into one, a no-holds-barred collision of two-turntables and a microphone with the added bonus of guitars, bossa-nova beats, Jack White, lyrics about spaceships, and dumptrucks full of ideas all fighting to be heard above the ruckus. It's an exhausting and exhilarating listen with lots of peaks, such as the digitized power ballad "Broken Drum" and handclap-drenched folk freak-out "Farewell Ride," and more than enough to restore anyone's faith in Beck as one of the most chaotically inspired songwriters of our time. -- Aidin Vaziri

My first Beck cd
This is a great cd. First of all, like my title says, this is my first Beck cd. I've heard of a few songs from this cd, so I decided to order it. I really did take a chance and I'm glad I did.E-Pro - This song starts off the cd pretty good. It's fast, unlike the rest. Though, I heard it alot before so I got tired of it. 4/5Que Onda Guero - This is how most of the cd sounds, at least in my opinion. It's very laid back and mellow. The song has a nice beat. 4/5Girl - I love the beat at the beginning. It sounds like something off of Mario, lol. But yeah, a really good song. 4/5Missing - One of my favorite songs on here. 5/5Black Tambourine - Love the beat on this. Very catchy and nice. It's one of those songs that make you drum on your desk while you sit at the computer. 5/5Earthquake Water - The songs get better and better. 5/5Hell Yes - This has to be one of my, if not, favorite. I just love the bass. Love the harmonica near the end. 5/5.Broken Drum - This, for some reason, reminds me something off of Pink Floyd. Is it just me? Anyways, another great. 5/5Scarecrow - This song picks the cd up. Good song. 4/5Go It Alone - When will the 5s stop? 5/5Farewell Ride - I love this song. It sounds like something from an old western or something. Very good. 5/5Rental Car - I wish they could've done the "Taking me far, far as the rental car can goooo" twice in a row or something. I think thats what makes the song really good, but yeah..4/5Emergency Exit - Great way to end the cd. Usually the last song sucks, but this one...in no way, sucks. 5/5This is probably the best cd I own as of now. I just started buying cds, but that still is something. I'm gonna buy some earlier Beck stuff and see how that goes. So yeah, if you're looking for something different, pick this up.

Solid Introductory Beck Album
I'd always been aware of Beck. What really pushed me to give his music a shot was when I'd discovered he wrote all the music played by the fictional "Sex Bob-Omb" from the recent movie, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. The music in the movie shined, especially the song played by Sex Bob-Omb. It was raw like punk, yet was lyrically poetic. I was hooked!Anyway, after a quick Google search, the name Beck was suddenly attached to the songs. At first, I searched for a "Best of" album with no luck. Then I remembered one of his songs that was a hit that I was fond of. I'm sure everyone and their grandma has heard the song "E-Pro", be it at a sports stadium, on the radio, on MTV, etc... Other singles from this album I was less aware of ("Girl", "Hell Yes", "Black Tambourine") are all great in their own respect. In fact, I fail to think of a single low point on this album. As my first full Beck album, it has done its job. It thoroughly entertains me on every listen, yet leaves me craving more.

A favorite from years ago
Guero was my favorite album when I was in college. It's hard to believe this album came out in 2005 when I was in my second year. About a month ago, I decided to purchase a vinyl copy before they all went out of print. It arrived in very good condition. This double album was printed in the EU and comes without shrink wrap. It has about 3-4 songs on each disc. The liner notes are printed on the inside cover and each disc is wrapped is in a clear plastic sleeve. I'm assuming it was pressed in 2005 if only because of the date on the packaging. I could be wrong about that.I have not played this record yet to check it's sound quality and fiddle with the tones, only about five seconds on the opening track to see if the fire was there or not. It's there. The the only disappointment is that this version does not have "Send A Message to Her," "Chain Reaction," or "Clap Hands." These three songs, as I remember, made the original what it was.

Guero satisfies all the highs and lows of Becks swinging moods!
It’s like a compilation of hits but all the jangle will be as fresh as his dumpster references!
