Berberine is one of those supplements that many experts advise you not take long term as it can cause problems with your gut flora. I took Berberine last year for three months, but that has been my only experience. I have taken Goldenseal a few times over the years, which contains Berberine. In addition to research showing Berberine helps with blood sugar issues, my purpose in using it is some studies have shown it helps increase energy levels while lifting weights. This is a great value... dosage is one capsule per day and there are 180 capsules in the bottle... so you are getting a six-month supply. The capsules are average size and I had no issues swallowing them. Typically, Berberine supplements are yellow in color, but these capsules are white. I assume that is from the rice flour listed as an additional ingredient.

I was prescribed Metformin, but I was told Metformin wasn't good on your kidneys. So, I started googling to find something safer and came across Berberine. I placed my order and I have been taking it daily for the last two weeks. I have noticed a decrease in my daily snacking and late night snacking which is an achievement for me because I love snacking. I haven't noticed any weight loss yet, but I'm pretty sure I will soon. Also, it cost less than Metformin. I definitely recommend this product.

I have been taking Berberine for a year now. My doctor wanted to put me on Metformin. But that stuff is NASTY for your body! My A1C scores dropped from 6.8 to 5.8 in 4 months!! I am hoping it will drop another few points with Berberine It has little or no side effects! It is just being recognized for its benefits. Amazon's price is great!!
