Comes in Black, Coffee, Brown, Chestnut, Tan, Burgundy Harness: Full of characters and glazed to a shiny finish. Has a nice pull-up and takes character over time. Comes in Walnut, Buck, Russet, Olive Latigo: Finished with tallows to make it water resistant and has a gorgeous pull-up. Comes in Cherry, Caramel Classic: Natural veg tan leather that is hand-dyed. Comes in Navy, Slate, Pink, Natural (undyed) Full Grain Leather Our leather comes from Wickett & Craig, tanning since 1867 in Curwensville, PA. We use vegetable-tanned leather that is traditional method of tanning leather using tree bark and ages to a beautiful patina. Full-grain leather is the outermost layer of cowhide that has all the characters and is not to be confused with “genuine leather” that mass production industry uses for bonded leather made out of residues- think wood vs. MDF. Leather Care As leather is used, it loses its oil contents. Once a year, rub some leather balm, or olive oil on leather using a cloth and let it dry to revitalize cowhide.

Top quality and a great price.
I have had my Coal Creek Field Notes Cover for a couple of weeks now and I really like it. The leather is beautiful and the workmanship is top notch. My mother, a longtime lover of fine leathers, guessed it was about $100.00. She was astonished when I told her it was half of that. Just a few things to be aware of if you are considering this item:1. Full grain leather is stiff when new. Don't worry, it will soften up with use.2. The credit card shots are tight. That is good, leather stretches to accommodate things, like when leather boots are broken it. I have had mine just a few weeks and the credit cards now slide in and out smoothly.3. I e-mailed Esan and he told me that the application of a tiny amount of olive oil was the best was to maintain his items. He stressed "tiny."4. Finally, full grain leather is the outer skin of the cattle. Slight imperfections are normal, just as we have scars and marks on our skins, and actually show that the leather is top grain. Lesser quality leather is perfect because it is cut from the full grain (the best). Mine had very minor marks, such as the item would have after a few weeks of use. This is part of the beauty and character of full grain leather, enjoy it and expect the leather to get a patina with use.

Okay, not what I expected but it'll do.
This cover is well made and looks great. It does add a bit of bulk to the pocket though. The card slots are too tight to fit anything comfortably. I intended to use those slots for business cards but they're too shallow and tight. The pen holder is nice but since I write on both sides of the page (I know, crazy, right?) it makes it difficult when writing on the left page. I'd much rather have something slimmer and with a better location for the pen loop.

Well-made in the USA
I ordered this with my initials on the cover for a bit of personalization. This seems to be durable and extremely well made and fits 3x5 note pads like the Moleskine Cahier or Elan Publishing Field Book. There is a pen loop that I am using with a Fisher Bullet Space Pen, a couple of sleeves for business cards or credit cards and a larger pocket on the left side behind the business card sleeves. There are some cheaper Chinese versions out there, but this is completely made in the USA (and it shows).

Quality leather notebook cover.
I'm a pen-and-paper guy and like to carry Field Notes pocket notebooks but they get pretty banged up just in a back pocket. This cover is a great solution. Fits in my back pocket and has a pen loop (I use a matte black Fisher space pen - the clicky type) plus a place to put a couple of notecards. Quality craftsmanship. Excellent value for the money.

My pocket notebook is outstanding! Esan customized it for me and I can't be any happier. The leather and craftsmanship are top notch. His communication and customer service are 5 star worthy for sure.If you like to EDC a notebook, then I highly recommend Coal Creek and Esan. Check out his other items as well. Bigger that pictured. Deceptive picture,
In the picture it looks like the field notes fits perfectly in the cover. I thought it would fit in his shirt pocket. It is much larger than pictured. I can't use it as intended. What a waste of $$$. Why do they make it look like it is just a little larger than the field notes when it is alot larger.

Fantastic product!!!
I love this wallet It’s made of high quality leather, it retains its form from sitting on it all day in my back pocket. The only complaints I have is that credit cards fight a little tight especially when you have a pen (my pen of choice is the fisher space pen), doesn’t fit to comfortably in jeans, I use this wallet with cargo pants. But other then that it’s a terrific gift.

Oh my gosh! I am in love with this product and company! I reached out to them about a little change to see if they can do it and they work so well with you. They stand by their product. I received this and it is gorgeous! I ordered it in cherry with ivory stitching. This pick doesn’t show how pretty the color is. The quality of the leather is amazing. I highly recommend this to everyone. I use my moleskin in it. You will fall in love with it too!!
