What the Health is the groundbreaking follow-up film from the creators of the award winning documentary Cowspiracy. The film follows intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the secret to preventing and even reversing chronic diseases – and investigates why the nation’s leading health organizations don’t want us to know about it. With heart disease and cancer the leading causes of death in America, and diabetes at an all-time high, the film reveals possibly the largest health cover-up of our time.

Politically motivated propaganda.
Disclaimer: i'm a vegetarian, so i have no axe to grind where consuming meat is concerned and hopefully this personal fact gives me some credibility herein.Much of this is crap. This so-called "documentary" is nothing more than politically motivated propaganda. I looked into the bio's and backgrounds of many of the people involved in this film and discovered that all of them are animal rights activists trying to persuade the audience to not eat meat. This fact is not presented in this film, however. For example, one of these so-called "activists" is described as a "formerly imprisoned activist". I researched his bio and discovered he's a violent, convicted felon. The film tries to portray him as some sort of heroic victim who was persecuted & imprisoned instead for his activism, for taking some kind of higher moral ground. No! He was imprisoned for his criminal behavior, not for trying to reveal some kind of misguided, so-called "truth".Some of the science pointed out is factual. But some of it is propaganda. Decades ago, animal rights activists tried to persuade the American public to stop eating meat and\or animal products for moral reasons. America laughed at them. So these people re-grouped and tried a different strategy. They began telling America that eating meat is "unhealthy" and will make them obese, sick, and eventually kill them. They kept this up in spite of the fact that there's ZERO scientific evidence proving that eating lean, quality meats in reasonable amounts is unhealthy. Quite the contrary, it's actually quite healthy. The film points to the fact that organizations like the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association accept donations from many food companies. The implication being that they're totally corrupt, that they're taking bribe money from the very organizations whose products are allegedly unhealthy and should be considered taboo by these organizations. What this film fails to acknowledge is that simply because these organizations accept $$ from these donors does not mean that they are either beholden to or behave in a ways that accommodate their donors' wishes. But the film plants the word "corrupt" in the audience's minds.America is suffering from a pandemic of obesity across all age, race, ethnic, gender, and economic classes. But this pandemic is not caused by consuming meat. America is, simply put, overeating, smoking, boozing, doping, and idling its way into oblivion.Political leftists in America have mastered the art of propaganda and this so-called "documentary" is Exhibit A. So unless you're a member of the animal rights choir and you feel like being preached to, don't bother watching this crappy propaganda piece.

SUGAR IS NOT THE PROBLEM...
I do not get it! "Sugar is not the problem."--LOL and AGAIN, a big lie! Here is my criticism, in a word, or more...The unhealthy individuals you used in your film are victims of food addiction, if all they had were vegetables they would just eat a whole lot more vegetables. You know what Kip, every "vegan" I have met are people who can afford to stratify their "best for everyone food ideas". Most of them eat a lot of starchy sugar, and drink a lot of booze. Once we stratify vegetables, poor people will start to die of malnutrition. You can already see this condition, as poor neighborhoods do not even have grocery stores. Maybe you can get KFC to fry only vegetables. Healthy food companies are becoming the next industry to harbor greed. The problem is not the meat industries, but the completely corrupt individuals ignoring any decency or respect for anything--mostly rich, violent, MEN. Their corruption and greed will continue to plague us all, they will be happy to do the same with vegetables. The planet is on it's way out, take all that money you are wasting and help children who's future we have pretty much S*** on. No I do not eat any animals...Good luck to ya

THANK YOU, Kip Andersen.
Everyone talks about Forks Over Knives as being the movie that introduced them to the power of a plant-based diet to prevent and reverse disease - the one that changed their lives. Well this is the movie that is going to change my life because it is the one that finally convinced my husband to make the change. The movie highlights the depth of the deception and corruption in our government when it comes to business and agriculture, and it is this evidence that finally moved my skeptical husband to let go of animal products and focus on plants. I'm so grateful.

This movie clearly has a vegan agenda
Many of the "facts" that are portrayed in this film are really baseless. The studies and meta analyses that many of these professionals are touting in this film are all epidemiological studies that can never prove cause and effect. The original bradford hill analysis linking smoking to cancer had RR of 55-70, the WHO studies linking meat to cancer was 0.4 and when you look deeper into the study this figure may actually be statistically noise. Meat causes diabetes?? Meat is protein; diabetes is an intolerance to glucose?? But meat makes you obese and obesity causes insulin resistance which causes diabetes. Well, how people with a genetic disorder called familial lipodystropy type 1 and type 2 have no fat on their body, zero- and yet, they have diabetes and worse, they have metabolic syndrome. Obesity does not guarantee diabetes. Animal products have saturated fat; ok, do you know what food substance, as a percent has the most saturated fat? Hint: it is not an animal product. It is coconut oil-plant based food. But wait, so if coconut oil has saturated fat and saturated fat leads to heart disease then not all plant based products can be good. Well again if saturated fat really is the problem then an indigenous tribe that eat 50% of its calories from this very source should have heart disease like crazy. Well, Tokelau people in new zealand actually have the opposite . They have no evidence of heart disease despite eating over 50% of their total caloric intake as coconut ( and its associated forms, the oil, the fruit, the milk ). One thing to keep in mind Americans now eat more calories per day as a percentage from soybean oil (yuke) than they do from meat. So it is saturated fat and animal products or is the macronutient mix of the standard american diet (SAD) that is the REAL PROBLEM. What is the SAD-basically high carbohydrate, super high sugar, and high amount of omega 6 industrial seed oils (like soybean, rapeseed, cottonseed oil) this is the fat that americans use to cook in. So it is not saturated fat maybe that the problem, maybe it is these seed oils. Please everyone when watching this film keep your minds open. Food and disease is highly nuanced -too much so to get the full picture from a propaganda film. Thank You for your attention

Go Vegan. Now.
You cannot declare yourself caring for the environment if you eat meat or dairy. Simple as that. It's causing up to 30% of all the damage to the atmosphere (more than all the road vehicles and plane journeys put together), its bad for your health, its cruel to living creatures (that have just as much right to life as you do), and that climate change you're contributing to will result in the displacement and possible starvation of thousands of human beings due to rises in sea level over the coming years. The government of the Maldives has already started assembling money to buy land elsewhere for its people when the islands are flooded and Kiribati has already bought land in Fiji. You have done this to these people. They did not do it to themselves. Time to wise up Carnie.

Well made and entertaining documentary
I thought it was a great film and have watched it several times. I bought this DVD because I wanted to share the film with others. I didn't notice this is the German version but fortunately (at least on my DVD player) I was able to remove the German dubbing and subtitles so it plays just like a US/UK DVD. Highly recommended.
