I must be losing my touch. I installed it right the first time. :D

I wanted to use composite audio to hook up my computer to my surround sound system My motherboard didn't have the right connectors this was easy and cheap to add, worked perfectly and now it sounds great.

This board works perfectly, but the supplied cables are bad quality. They burned up when I turned on my computer. I had a spare set that are working fine. Install at your own risk.

I have 2 reference speakers and a subwoofer connected to a receiver amplifier. I had been running analog from the motherboard stereo jack and getting audible hiss when there was no sound. I installed this module to my ASUS motherboard SPDIF out header, and ran an optic cable to the optical in jack on the receiver. Now I get zero hiss.

I have my pc setup with dual monitor so, earc on my 4k display. And cloning my 24" 1080p running at x4 Super resolution to my bedroom tv. This and with using Kodi, let's me always have coaxial ready for my old Philips receiver. Never liked having an adapters to convert to run long lengths of cables.

A cord literally melted. Otherwise it worked as advertised. This was the 5v wire. It was either a bad wire. Or the Toslink drew to much amperage. Either way I wouldn’t recommend.

I built this computer last January. It did not come with SPDIF connector, but I have no need for it until now. Despite the fact that there are quite a few negative reviews, I placed an order since it is inexpensive.It arrived quickly and I gave it a thorough inspection and found none of the issues reported. Installation was straightforward. I am using it to feed digital audio signal to a mid-tier external DAC.

Sounds good because it's just a digital interface. Poor component quality, the PCB can't be cheaper. The metal bracket came with rust out of the box. Not returning just to not contribute to e-waste.
