Q: What pmw charger control would be need to maintain two 12v rv batteries?

A cheap little 30A should be more than enough if only using it for basic lighting, refrigerator control boards, electric water heater ignition, etc... and no need for more than 400w of solar panels. It can handle more but it's not necessary. 200w of solar PVs should more than adequate if you have lots of sun and not used for charging more than small devices, 400w in forested or regularly shaded locations. MPPT is a more efficient controller and low end 30A ones can be pretty inexpensive, but they often have the bonus of digital readouts, better automation, and battery conditioning if using vented lead acid deep cycle batteries. Read up on how to install if you're going to keep your ac charging unit and installing a battery isolater in the tow vehicle if it will be attached to the same circuit. Beware of PWM units being mirepresented as cheap MPPTs. I've seen that a lot.

No more than anything in the sun would heat up a roof. Their solar conversion to power causes little to no heat build up that I could ever tell, unless they were improperly installed and the current (amperage) exceeded the capacity of the wire used or improper fusing that would allow damage from a short to cause excessive current (highly unlikely since quality panels have diodes that should prevent this). You might consider leaving some sort of gap to allow for drainage of rainwater though. Don't want standing water to find it's way into cracks and cause water damage, especially on RVs since they are highly susceptible to roof leaks.
