Worked very well.
Even in well lit condition was able to find trace amount of dye that other lights weren't able to would have given 5 stars if it was rechargeable or even if it came with batteries. Good product though.

Works as it is supposed to.
It works like it is supposed to. I tried using different dyes to see it it made a difference but it didn't. For best vissions use in dimly lit area.

Unbelievably Bright
I wasn't sure how bright the UV flashlight would be, but lemme tell ya, it's BRIGHT. Makes it way easier to see UV leak-detection dye in the daytime.

Great tool for the price. Don’t forget batteries!
I used a small bottle of oil dye from autozone (around 7$) and this worked great. I would recommend using the light to inspect BEFORE adding the oil incase there is any other UV dye already in place. I also used this to track an AC Freon leak to find the seal in the compressor was bad, which saved me the hassle of replacing all my O rings. It’s a very handy and useful tool. Keep in mind it requires 6 batteries and they aren’t included and are needed for use

Light won’t turn on - battery back is broken?
One of the battery packs is missing the negative connections so there is no way for it to work. And then one of them is just plastic. No metal parts at all. Why aren’t the battery packs the same? Are they supposed to be?

Decent UV light for leak detection
UV lights and injectable dyes are critical for finding leaks in today's era of heinously expensive refrigerants. The old days of "give it a toot of freon" are long gone. My son the HVAC tech contributed his insights to this review. The light itself is straightforward but it does require 6 AA batteries in plastic triple sleeves, as though the body of the light was originally intended for C cells or some other size of battery. The switch is a simple button at the tail of the light and there is a lanyard supplied but it is more for hanging the tool than putting around a wrist; that's a dangerous practice when checking for leaks in confined areas. One does not want to lose a fingers or a hand to belts and fans if the tool gets snagged!Performance was decent: the supplied contrast glasses are the right tint and 50+ LEDs in the head put out an adequate amount of light to make indicator dyes fluoresce. It's still almost impossible to see in bright noon-day sun but almost any amount of shade or room darkening will help with that issue.Battery life has been good, requiring no battery changes over the last several months of 2-5 minutes per day of use.It isn't the world's finest UV light, but for $20, it's a great value and cheap enough to leave in mechanical rooms for weekly or daily checks of equipment you suspect of leaking. Or to not drive back 45 minutes if you left it behind. The only serious recommendation would be to use lithium AA batteries to minimize the change of leaks in an infrequently used tool.
