Fin Box Cleat for Paddleboard and Surfboard Anti-Theft Security

The cleat fits great in standard fin boxes. If you use the provided screw, you can't change fins. So i changed screw. The threads match FCS fin screws, but not SBS screws. The downside is that they can be removed with an allen key. But what theif carries around allen keys in case there's a board to steal? I use a luggage lock with cable shank. My car is tall enough that if the board is upside down, you have to be very tall to see that its a common screw and luggage lock securing the board. Most people just see the big a$$ cable that attaches to the rack and assume it's heavy duty. The cleat works but a word of caution about the actual lock from this company- with pressure and leverage it can break free without tools or damage to the leash plug. I've seen it done on 3 leash plugs but haven't tried it on this cleat.

Needs more instructions for how much to tighten.

If someone wants to cut you lock and has cable cutters - game over. If you want to deter the causal thief then this works. I added this to fin box of SUP. It stay more secure then leash plug which slipped out if twisted.

Construction looks sound but the screw provided is not long enough to secure it in my standard fin box on my Bic Ace Tec. This is a common board so the maker of this would have to know it does not fit some fin boxes that are deeper. If they really cared they would provide 2 screws of different lenths

I've put these on every board I've owned for years so I can lock them to my car racks. It's the best way to keep tweeters from stealing them. 5 stars
